And Tough Enough, according to many insiders, is a main reason why wrestling has lost any form of "realism" or mystique. It gives too much of the business away. Besides, it produced Maven, one of the worst young "talents" wrestling has ever seen...

I dunno what insiders you hang with. The business was massively exposed long before summer 2001, so much that I don't think seeing people learn how to bump affects the mystique of a wrestling match all that much. And Maven is no worse than any number of mediocre wrestlers, especially those who have only been wrestling for three years.

I think this one is gonna suck though. (For the record it goes season 1, wide margin, season 3, wide margin, season 2.) As if the fact that it looks to be exclusively comprised of tall, jacked up males didn't make it uninteresting enough, the 15 minutes per week renders it all pointless anyway. What kind of story can you tell in 15 minutes?

>>>WWE Legend Al Snow<<<

Haha wow.

Oh yeah, horrible thing #3: pbp Todd Grisham and color man Jonathan Coachman on Stevie Night Heat.

A FOUR-YEAR CONTRACT worth one million?!? Most of the guys on the current roster won't even make that over an EIGHT year period in the WWE! Talk about a drop in morale and potential mass-hazing! Besides, I thought the WWE would learn their lesson in signing high-money long-term deals with Mark Henry.

As for Maven, I think a stint in OVW might do wonders for him. He's got the selling down great, he just doesn't have the moveset - most of his matches are sell for 2 minutes, dropkick, dropkick, jumping DDT, surprise roll-up. I wouldn't consider him one of the "worst" wrestlers though,

I'm in total agreement with you regarding Tough Enough and Maven. With Maven, less is definitely more. At one point, when Maven was making regular appearances and was rumored to have a spot in Evolution, I would have told anyone that Maven has no place in wrestling. For now the Maven to Evolution rumors have stopped and thus my "hatred" for him has been decreased.

In my humble assessment of Maven is that he is a competent professional wrestler, nothing less, nothing more. Nothing about him stands out. Maven would be better off in a different era. He would be best suited as a high-card jobber ala Jim Powers, Lanny Poffo, etc.

One thing I never got however was that with the WWE so worried about wrestling names that were too similar, why did Maven and Raven continue to use those names. I mean, Steve Regal changed his name to William because there was Steve Austin and Flyboy Rocco Rock became just Flyboy Rocco because they didn't want to mislead marks with the Rock name.

I don't think they ever really cared about Raven. In fact, I recall reading a rumor (on that huge DVD thread) that Raven was hired by Jim Ross without Vince McMahon's (who hated him) knowledge.

If that was true, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him the Mark Henry treatment by giving him stupid and degrading storylines to try to get him to quit (I'm talking Mark Henry, the pervert who lost his virginity to his sister and then slept with Mae Young, who later gave birth to a hand).

Apparently on Friday they cut 25 people from the 50 finalists including former UFC fighter Wes Sims. Impactwrestling.com said one of the favorites at the tryouts was John Minton Jr. who was believed to be the son of Big John Studd.

If the WWE is smart, that one-million dollar contract comes completely out of the Tough Enough revenue stream. That is, it won't be money that could have been given to more experienced wrestlers already on the roster.
