Now, we're all well aware of the inherent homo-erotic overtones present in many of the moves performed in a wrestling ring, but (no matter how "gay" they look) there is always a valid (?) reason for using them within the context of a staged fight ... The Lou Thesz Press (or as Mick Foley so eloquently put it, the "Dick in the Mouth move") knocks your opponent down. The bear hug squeezes the breath out of one's foe. Hell, even the Bronco Buster could be described (if you try hard enough) as a move designed to damage your opponent's ribs.

But what Viscera did during his match with Maven last night ... I'm sorry, but that's just a public corn-holing and nothing more!

I mean, it doesn't even serve the function of a Big Splash (he's already lying on top of him) or a Crossface (he's not really wrenching on the guy's neck or anything) or anything like that. Nope, he just climbs onto his back and starts (ugh) thrusting ... Now, my question is, who within the WWE offices finds the idea of a fat black man "riding" his opponent like that as something that the audience would gain amusement/entertainment from? Or, maybe the question should be, why does the audience keep cheering for it?

I cited the same in the RAW thread. There IS a precedent in the WWE. We can look directly at the Road Dogg hump during his pumphandle slam finisher. And which federation hasn't used the BroncoBuster/Carpet Muncher? You could also mention the Big Bossman match against Stasiak (Meat) when PMS gave him some sort of herbal Viagara right before a match.

I'm more concerned that this is, so far, a black-on-black gag. If they HAVE to do this, break up the victim demographic a bit, please.

Because a 400-pound face dry-humping heel opponents is funny?

Think of it as the Stinkface 2005 and you're on the right track.

Viscera was on ByteThis afew weeks back explaining the move and he basically said it was to humiliate his opponents.

Viscera's been doing that for weeks, how come people are just starting to notice now? I guess us Ws just pay more attention when Maven's in the ring or something.*

The first time he did it, I seem to remember a big reaction from the crowd, simply because it was so shocking. Problem with stuff like that is it wears off after the first time, much like Road Dogg's "hump" before he did his pump-handle drop. I personally want to find it a little embarrassing as a wrestling fan (since we get enough of the homo-erotic jokes from non-fans as it stands), but it's just so ridiculous that I can't even bat an eye in that regard.

*Edit - that's sarcasm, folks.

The move made its debut over a month ago against Sylvain Grenier, so the racial element is something you don't have to be concerned with. But the homoerotic element, well, that's still definately there.

See, he’s repeatedly driving his immense weight into the lower region of his opponent’s back. This serves to soften that area up for his new Derailer-type finisher.
