Went to the OVW show on June 18 and since some people here seem to enjoy reading about the Six Flags shows, I thought I would pop in with some quick notes.

First off, considering that Kane has been a heel since taking the mask off, it was interesting to see him appear at this OVW event as a face. He also did an autograph signing before the show - something I hadn't seen Cornette allow a WWE heel do at one of the OVW events before. In a way, that was kinda cool though, as he was completely un-kayfabe backstage in the autograph session. Probably was a relief for him to act like a normal person for once instead of KANE, the monster.

Anyway, the show itself was pretty good, although just a little short of 90 minutes this time. First match was Johnny Nitro versus Big Bad John. Nitro was pulling some funny stuff in the match. Managed to get a slap across the chest to BBJ and suddenly he's acting like he just won a Kung-fu contest. Big Bad John is still a bit loose, and Nitro ended up carrying him at times in the match. Nitro also pulled out the standing shooting star press that he has used on rare occasions, which was nice to see. Big Bad John won, incidentally.

Next was Da Beast, with Lulu versus Rodney Mack. Lulu had gotten her hair cut and it looked cute. She also wore a little red dress that there was no way she could bend over in. At one point early in the match she had to jump down from the ring, and her dress flew up, showing she was wearing a thong and completely exposing her ass to everyone for about three seconds. (EDIT: Mack won, btw. See my response below for a little more detail about this one.)

Next was Carlos Colon and Mike Mondo, with Kenny Bolin, versus Seth Skyfire and Mac Johnson. Typical match for everyone there, with Bolin accidentally slamming Colon in the head with his briefcase (and a pretty good shot it was
to - nice and loud). When Bolin finally "woke" Colon up, Colon started threatening to punch Bolin in the face. Suddenly you could see Jim Cornette running up to the side of the ring to cheer Colon on, as Bolin got down on his knees and was hugging Colon. Meanwhile, Mondo did this little "oh me gosh" panic dance that was straight out of an old Warner Brothers Cartoon. Funny thing was that when the audience began cheering Colon on, he acted offended that they would suggest he hit his manager and then forgave Bolin. So the whole event got Colon some face and then tremendous heel heat at the end of the match.

Next was Matt C. and Alexis Laree versus Joey Matthews and Melina. Joey spent the first half of the match, slapping Matt and then ducking out of the ring. When Alex and Melina finally got a chance to work with each other, they really tore the place up. Good work from them. Honest. Matt was supposedly hurt - in fact, Cornette ran out to the ring after a while to help him to the back, but Matt showed up later as good as new, so perhaps it could have just been a work. Matt and Alexis won when Matthews was busy holding Alexis up for a slam to the mat. Matt punched him, dropping Alexis and falling forward, allowing Alexis to roll Joey up for the pin.

Next was the Street Fight with the Jersey Shore Crew versus the Troubleshooters. The Troubleshooters brought out the normal stuff (trash cans, etc.), while the Crew brought out a Kroger's shopping cart, an oar, and a golf club.

The match itself was pretty intense for OVW - mostly with Chris Masters and Nova working in the ring and Brent Albright and Idol working everywhere else. At one point, Masters actually lifted up the shopping cart by the side and threw it into the ring, then smashed Nova's head into it. Later, Nova dragged Masters off to the far side of the theater and threw "white powder" into his face. He
then beat-up Masters and left him in a lump as he went back to the ring with a tennis racket. Cornette tried to stop him, but got Nova sent him flying back to the backstage area. Nova then started beating on Albright, who was being held in place by Idol.

Suddenly Masters comes tearing back to the ring with a section of the guardrail. He smashed Nova and Idol up with it, then placed up against a corner in the ring and the Troubleshooters threw Idol into it first, then threw Nova upside-down into it, bending it in half. Nova got up eventually and took a run towards the two, only for them to duck out of the way and Nova going headfirst into the
shopping cart in the ring and flying inside of it (he hit it so hard that the "baby carriage" part of it flew up and he fit in completely, upside-down, in the cart, with his feet standing straight up in the air for several minutes.

The Troubleshooters finally won the match after all that.

Final match was Matt Morgan versus Kane. Morgan came to the ring first, but when Kane came out, Morgan ducked out of the ring. He would come back in, and whenever Kane advanced on him, he would duck out again. He did this about five times, delaying the match forever.

Morgan is starting to get some great heel heat going with the audience. He mouthed off to one guy to the point that the guy was screaming at Morgan so hard he was red in the face. Someone had to finally pull the guy away from the guardrail to calm him down.

Finally Cornette came back out and decided that - since Matt wouldn't stay in the ring - they would make him stay there by turning the match in a Lumberjack match. Suddenly all the faces come out, but Cornette needed more people, so he brings out the heels as well. Of course, that just starts more fighting amongst the faces and heels, and when the Troubleshooters see the Jersey Shore Crew, they attack each other and end up going to the back with it. Meanwhile, the heels who are left are fine with seeing Kane lose, so they start trying to help Morgan with the match.

Finally, Morgan and Kane start and the match goes on for a while until Kane is just about ready to do the chokeslam and end the match. That's when the Troubleshooters came back out and stalled Kane. Cornette then gets on the mic and has it turn into a free-for-all, and everyone is in the ring duking it out. During all this, the Troubleshooters manage to get Morgan out and backstage,
so Morgan once again doesn't have to officially win a match against one of the WWE superstars.

After all that, Kane starts chokeslamming all the heels left in the ring, including Mondo, Colon, Matthews, and Nitro. That brought the show to an end, with everyone in the crowd applauding Kane. He seemed pretty happy to be getting the applause as well.

And now he can go back to RAW and start beating up on all the faces again, and be the father of Lita's baby. :-)

The card didn't look that spectacular this weekend, so the show turned out better than I expected. Also interesting to see how often Cornette was involved, as he usually just stays behind-the-scenes at the Six Flags shows.

In three week, Eddie Guerrero will be the special guest at the next Six Flags show. Looking forward to it.

(Edited to clean up a couple of minor spelling problems and to mention who won in a couple of events.

I appreciate the description as much as the next guy, but just out of curiosity, who won the match? And did Mack look any better than what we've seen out of him on Raw? :)

Sorry! I guess I was concentrating too hard on the exciting part. :-)

Mack won. It was pretty much a big man vs. big man match. Lots of chokeslams, boot-kicks in the corner, and body slams. I can't really say I saw any improvement in Mack from before he went up in the first place.

Mind you, the audience loved it. Mack has always been a fan-favorite in OVW.

Well maybe that's the WWE's problem, the OVW fans cheer the hosses so the WWE thinks that everybody else is going to like them too.

Great recap Snookum! I've been busy moving into the new house so I haven't been able to keep up with OVW much lately so I very much appreciate the update.
