It's getting close to the one-year annversiary of Ric Flair's return to WWE. I'm a Ric Flair fan, but I think so far Flair's run has been a huge disappointment.

From being part-owner of WWE, to being HHH's lackey, he hasn't had a significant impact this year, aside from being 50% owner of WWE, and his feud with Taker.

What do you think of Flair this year.

I just think there is not much left in the Nature Boy's tank. There is not a ton that they can do with him from an in ring standpoint, however, being HHH's fetch-it boy is a little below him as well. I am HOPING that the pay off is Flair taking a young gun under his wing and turning on H. I agree that the feud with Taker was well done, and I still remember marking out HUGE the night he came back.

I remeber marking out HUGE too... I had fallen asleep reading a book and woke up and saw it was like 10:48 and was like "OH SHIT RAW!!!!" and I turn on the TV to see Vince and Angle in the ring talking about striping Austin of the belt, but when Flair's music hit... it was great. Also, if you wanted to see an arena EXPLODE, at the Rumble this year when Flair slapped the Figure-Four on Vince the place went nuts, I guess all the old Atlanta NWA fans remeber and have a soft spot for Flair.

Eventually, the tank was going to run out, and it has. The good thing about his year in the WWF/E is it helped erase the very end of WCW, when he was forced by Dusty Rhodes to kiss an Ass. I think its time for Ric to move into the color commentary seat on RAW.

Or go full throttle with Ric as the manager of a kick ass heel stable. The WWE has so many bland young wrestlers, let Flair be their mouth piece.

I agree that Flair came onto the scene with a bang but is performing at whimper-level right now.
But like the WWE, I have no idea how to use him effectively. I can think of no angle beyond what he's doing now that makes any sense.

I think the quote from him in the Boston Globe story earlier this week was tell-tale.

They asked him about "physicality" and he said something to the effect of, "I get involved in it more often that I'd like."

There's not much you can do with a guy who doesn't want to bump any more.

SIGH... I remember when I would look at the clock and say "Oh Shit, Raw!" Now I say, Oh well, I missed wrestling, and not even tune in for the last 10 minutes....

I think Flair's probably in the best role that they can think up for him. A cheating manager who sometimes gets bumped around. He certainly shouldn't be having anymore matches.

I like krakken's idea about Flair leading a heel stable. I miss the the old days of the heel stables like Bobby Heenan used to have. You know, where he'd "manage" like 4 or 5 guys but they all didnt have to come out together for every match like the stables do today, but they'd still run down and cheat for each other if necessary?

Yeah, that's what I'M talkin about.

I totally agree... completely... 100%. And if not Flair... why not a Heyman Family?

They started out right, letting Flair be Flair but then they started forcing him into the WWE style of promos and skits. I guess that's what happens when you put Flair on a show with a head writer who probably even know about Flair's greatness.

The defining moment of Flair's run was his match with Rock in Charlotte when they didn't even give Flair promo time to hype it up.

Flair could've really meant something if he only did the occasional PPV match with the big names but instead they put him on TV every week, they put him on the road and totally exposed him.

it just seems weird seeing Flair give head to anyone esp. HHH.
I mean he was always THE MAN...
i agree with the earlier idea of giving him a young heel stable... although id prefer it to be one young heel who needs guidance

Flair needs to be a mouthpiece. That's his only purpose now. The "rub" he can give is gone. I mean, he put RICO over cleanly and look where Rico is now!

But yeah, get him the hell away from the NecropHHHiliac! Put Flair with someone who can't talk, like a Jeff Hardy.

Maybe send him to SD! somehow and see how he does with Heyman as writer? As for who he'd manage--well John Cena could use guidance, IMHO.

I think Ric used up all the mic skills in North Carolina. He should form a Carolina stable and talk for ALL of them.

Well, maybe they can have him do an in-studio interview for Confidential. I mean, that's possible.....right?
