I realize wrestling is a work, but something bothered my about how all of the matches were just a little too conveinently set up. And how the wrestlers immediately tought of the right this to say and had the right expressions. | Promote this thread! | | NotAWrestler

I don't watch any other sport but hockey and it never airs on Monday nights opposite RAW (at least not in my part of Canada anyway). Of course, I'm such a die-hard, I wouldn't change the channel anyway but I figure it must be nice to have the option if you're so inclined. | Aphrodites Reflection

| #5 Posted on 7.10.02 2303.22 Reposted on: 7.10.09 2304.24 | I still watched the show and still enjoyed it, but I certainly agree with your sentiments. I kept thinking that they were doing a terrible job trying to make it seem as if the stipulations were random. One thing they could have done would have been to throw one or two totally unexpected stipulations in there, and it would have worked much better in my mind.
For instance, instead of Al Snow vs Test in a streefight, book them in a first blood match. Or book Christian vs. Storm in a Diaper match, since they are both crybabies. Anything that seems out of the blue would have gone a long way in establishing the credibility of the wheel. As it was, Jerry Lawer's "random" match just happened to feature Ho's. What are the odds?
Also, why is Steven Richards in the "It's legal in Nevada-Ho Train match" ? He was the leader of the right to censor, a while back, and they hated the godfather and his Ho's. Oh well, continuity is sometimes too much to ask.

At No Way Out 2001 from the very same arena in Las Vegas, Lawler and Richards faced off in a match where if Lawler won, The Kat would get to...strip, was it? I wanted to say to form the Right To Nudity but I think she'd already done that. Anyway, Lawler/Richards II, also from Las Vegas with a stipulation involving women, was a neat touch, IMHO. | StaggerLee

Kane and HHH are going for the Raw Title, do they need to through in some stupid, 80s style crap about Kane a murderer? That is terrible. I was like, why kill this show with some stupid ending like that? I was expecting HHH to have killed Paul Bearer or beat the crap out of Paul. That would have been better than some murder crap that they are going to have to make up something totally silly to follow through with. | It's False

You might consider it nitpicking if you like, you are welcome to your opinion. I have already stated in my earlier posts that I enjoyed the show. I was merely stating that if I were able to improve it, I would have improved the wheel.
You seem to have missed my point about "the wheel". I was referring to the credibility not of the wheel itself, but the credibility of the gimmick of the show, which was "random stipulations". I enjoyed the matches, but I was echoing the sentiments expressed above that it was pretty obvious even to the marks that there was no randomness involved.
One of the main goals of a sucessful wrestling production is to give the impression of realism while not actually having it. The idea is for the people watching to suspend their disbelief just a little bit and maybe believe that what is going on is real. Few people enjoy watching a wrestling show that is blantantly fake, they want to be fooled a little bit into thinking that maybe, just maybe, it is real.
In the case of tonight's show, they could have made the wheel seem more random. I don't see it as being a nitpicky thing, but neither is it a major issue that prevented me from enjoying the overall show. Hopefully this clears up any confusion. | shea

Then Bischoff could have said, "NO KIDDING the wheel is rigged. What's your point?"

| #19 Posted on 8.10.02 1023.19 Reposted on: 8.10.09 1024.52 | What might have upgraded the wheel along Aph's Reflection's line of thought would have been to have it land outside that narrow run of seven or eight sections we saw over and over. After all, it was rigged, and you could certainly see it (in what I consider a blown comedy spot-- it should've been much more exaggerated) that time Bisch barely bumped the wheel, but it went about 200% further than the other times he spun it hard.
Just show us a lot more possible stips, have the wheel land once in another of its quadrants, and boom! everyone's happy.
I feel bad I skipped the blindfold match. As soon as I read that there WAS one, I determined to miss it, based on how terrible they usually are. Oh well. | HomerJFong

The name used was "Katie Vick". Speaking of which, how would you like to be this person? I hope she knows nobody who is a wrestling fan.
