danielson's beat down on Cole made the entire season of NXT worth it.

But where does it go from here?

Danielson vs Miz with Cole in Miz's corner?

And, given how people dislike Cole, whether face or heel, was this a big babyface move for Danielson?

I can't recall a babyface wrestler ever attacking a heel announcer.

The closest thing I can recall is Nikita clotheslining David Crockett, but he was not a heel, just annoying.

Maybe this show wouldn't have been so terrible if they had the pros sitting on the ramp all the time.

CM Punk
1) pretended to accompany Young to the ring and then snuck away from him.
2) said something like "he couldn't" when Matt Hardy talked about how you need to be able to make it in the WWE locker room.
3) vigorously nodded his head yes along with William Regal when Miz asked Bryan if he was better than him, then put his hands out wide and said "by a lot" to Regal.

Darren Young's goodbye speech :-/

Michael Tarver has five kids to feed, he needs to take the job as Virgil.

apparently Regal also said "he IS better than you" after the Miz's speech.

I wonder if everyone left (plus Danielson) will end up with jobs on TV (and maybe just to job on TV).

Barrett, Slater, Gabriel and Otunga all seem to have something to contribute, even if it's lose every week on Superstars or make up the numbers on Smackdown.

Best NXT episode in my opinion.

Danielson going off on the mic had me on the edge of my seat.

Agree with Shapiro on the pros up on the ramp. Should have always been like that.

WHY? WHY? WHY weren't Carlito and R-Truth there? WHY did everybody contribute to the "pros talk about folks" vignettes except Carlito? WHY? That drives me nuts.

Duh, racism.

Danielson's attack on Cole is for sure a face move, although it can also be read as kind of cowardly -- he calls out a wrestler and and ex-wrestler, but then ends up attacking a non-wrestler? Hm.

Also, CM Punk being all "let's go!" and then trotting back to his seat -- and then waving at Young when Young turned around to see where he was -- ha ha ha, tremendous.

I realize we're not supposed to be applying logic to this show, but after almost every pro criticized Otunga, and several talked about how in-ring skills were a big part of their evaluation, how does Otunga wind up #2 in the Pro's Ranking?

Because when you have the look they just push the hell out of you, ringwork be damned, until you either fall flat completely (Nathan Jones)/piss off Vince and/or the entire locker room (Nailz), or learn on the job (Orton). No matter how much the pros say they value skill I have to assume they're being realistic about the way things are.

Also, Punk rules and my inner teenager AngryJohhny got to live vicariously through Danielson tonight. I personally think Cole is a lot better nowadays (occasionally serviceable or better) but man those early days were brutal.

I saw his segment ( on the WWE website, and it sounds like an elevation of the DX rants, exposing the backstage protocol. That suggests a significant push for the guy, but the continued use of "Daniel Bryan" confuses me. Are we sure they're not pursuing an angle of distinct personalities, that he's somewhat "going Danielson" when his temper flares up?

If I may Twitter quote the venerable Joey Styles:

@JoeyStyles I'm a long time Daniel Bryan fan but wrestlers shouldn't assault announcers, not even Cole. The kid is dangerous and a legal liability.

I'm going to go against the collective will of the Internet and agree with this. Daniel Bryanson Danielson was way out of line when he went after Cole. Sure, we all lived vicariously through him for a few seconds, but Bryanson was in the wrong here.

What if Darren Young came back wearing an Orange T shirt, denim shorts and acted like a certain WWE Champion? There's never been an angle where a black guy who happens to look exactly like a white guy except for skin color mimics the white guy. This would outdo Jay Lethal by a mile.

At first I wasn't even sure if I would keep on watching NXT, but I'm glad I did nonetheless. Great show. Can't wait for Bryan vs. Cole and Bryan vs. Miz!

Last night's show was definitely pretty interesting. You first have the pros come out and of course, CM Punk finds ways to draw more heel heat with his speeches.

Then soon into the show, Daniel Bryan actually shows some personality and attitude in his speech and against Cole, but him calling out the WWE politics was definitely an attention-getter.

Last night's NXT was the best episode and it will be hard to beat last night's intensity.

The WWE really needs to hold off on Danielson Vs Cole til Summerslam at the very least. If they for once build for the long term they could have it headline WrestleMania. In all seriously it was good to see Cole smacked around.

As always, Orquiola & I are either totally opposite or are in complete agreement. Daniel Bryan-son-son was absolutely crossed the line when he put his hands on Cole. He was doing moderately well bitching at Cole (Use your words, dear.), & even a certain amount of getting in Cole's face was OK for emphasis. But as soon as he doesn't keep his hands to himself, while Cole is doing everything he can to run & hide, then he becomes chickenshit.

And then we missed half of Gabriel/Slater's match, while Cole has his hissy-fit & walk-out. Couldn't we have dealt with that over commercial, & had Regal, or Hardy & Christian, or somebody come out to help out Josh?

Regal & Punk up on stage -- excellent.

Complete waste of time with the exit promos by Meathead & Tarver. Sheffield's actually might have been a useful change of strategy, if he'd just thought through his position a little better, & gotten some better wardrobe. Unfortunately, didn't quite make enough difference.

Two whole matches? They couldn't have sorted up somebody for Otunga to work with? And then Otunga stays in second place, without so much as a word? Yawn.

Using that logic, was Randy Orton chickenshit for RKOing Wayne Brady a couple of weeks ago? Wayne Brady didn't do anything to provoke Orton, and Orton inflicted a lot more damage on him, so that had to be worse, right?

(Wow, that was a weird bunch of words to type.)

It gets weirder when you replace "Wayne Brady" with "Meat Loaf."

Using one of the main guys on (Styles) as a quote for anther one of the main guys (Cole). Kayfabe is alive and well AMIRITE.

I've got no problem with this, just like I had no problems when people had feuds with The Brain. Or the Genius. Or Jerry the King Lawler in his heel days.

Was it a heel move? Only if the announcer is a face. And only if the crowd deems it a heel move. And they didn't, therefore it was a face move.

Assuming of course everyone understands if It's On TV.....blah blah blah.

Cole may be hated by large groups of people watching the show, but he's clearly meant to be the good guy and Bryan is meant to be the guy crossing a line by attacking a non-wrestler who wasn't touching him. Not to mention the guys who were egging him on were heels Regal and CM Punk.

This was a heel turn. It may not get over as a heel turn, but that's the idea.

You know, since the Koslov/Regal team is clearly lasting only long enough to set up the Santino/Koslov team, Regal's may need a new partner to fight them really soon.

Would that make Miz a de facto face? Or is the end game for Miz to realize that Bryan HAS made and eventually recruit him as a partner?

You know, if end up with a heel stable of Jericho, Miz, Regal and Danielson, the IWC would go crazy with joy.
