Cena-HHH seems like a given at this point, with Batista-Orton pulling for the SD side and HBK-Vince as a featured attraction match.

That's staggering, especially considering one of those champs is a guy whose skillz are very questionable and whose saving grace, his ability to connect with the crowd, has been noticeably eroding as of late. But I'm all for long title reigns, so hey, good for them. | HairRaiser

| #4 Posted on 29.12.05 1858.10 Reposted on: 29.12.12 1858.37 | I like Cena/HHH for the final match, but with HHH defending. I think he takes the belt before the Rumble and Cena goes the distance. Even though they've shown some restraint so far keeping Edge's Money in the Bank title shot, I don't see him in the Raw ME at Mania.
Batista/UT looks like a solid WM money match to me and if this were to become the end run for Taker, that would either be the place to start his final title run or end his streak and ride off into the sunset.
Somehow I don't see them getting Hogan/Austin for Mania. The egos involved are too big even for that payday. That said, I'd like to see Angle in the 3rd ME, but for an opponent it'd almost have to be HBK or bust. I don't think there's anybody other credible enough babyface on RAW to go into it. | Deputy Marshall

This'll only work if Creative does something pretty damn interesting with Cena. The guy's getting booed by half the crowd (and what at times seems like over half the crowd) as champion right now, and I doubt after he loses the title people are going to automatically jump behind him to get it back.
It's plausible I guess, but it would take some really, really good booking. | TL_Hopper

| #6 Posted on 29.12.05 2027.09 Reposted on: 29.12.12 2027.13 | Usually you can kinda see in advance where the booking is leading for the ME at WrestleMania (To wit: Angle/Lesnar at XIX, Benoit's big win at XX, Batista's win over HHH). This year, my best guess is HHH/Cena. Problem is, even if HHH gets the title sometime between now and WrestleMania (most likely between New Year's Revolution and Mania, due to his program with Big Show), that gives them so little to time to book a program with Cena that I can't see how they'd do it. The only way I could see it is with a Cena heel turn (which I think they could pull off) and a HHH face turn (which, based on how well that worked three years ago, I don't see as a possibility.
I guess what I'm saying is my money is on Randy Savage vs. George Steele II: Payback. | OMEGA

| #7 Posted on 29.12.05 2250.51 Reposted on: 29.12.12 2251.05 | If I had to guess, I'd say that Cena is going into 'Mania as champion (I believe McMahon has been telling Cena that the current plan is for him to keep the title past WrestleMania). Triple H v. John Cena is their biggest marquee match, and therefore will probably go on last. The problem is that Cena has been getting more and more boos lately. And WrestleMania is a show that draws the hardcores to attendance (the ones who are willing to fly from around the country to attend the event). And those are the fans that will probably be most vocal against Cena. While the storybook ending of Cena defeating Hunter and closing out WrestleMania still as champion while the crowd roars in approval is a nice thought, I fear it might be Cena still as champion while the crowd groans in frustration.
The other main-matches look to be Batista v. Orton and Michaels v. McMahon. I can't say either really intrigue me, so I'm hoping for guys like Angle and Benoit to be given great matches. For the past several years, WrestleMania has had that one classic match, and I'm hoping the streak doesn't end here.

And, at 201-1, convince Vince's daughter to face her husband in the main event, drop 2 grand on it, and walk away with a cool 400k. At least someone would finally make money off of their egos. Even if they fire you, not a bad going away present.

| #10 Posted on 30.12.05 0746.59 Reposted on: 30.12.12 0747.23 | | The best viable big-money match they have going for them right now is Batista/Undertaker. They've never been in the same ring together in any capacity, both have been booked like supermen for the past six months and both have a BIG stake in a Mania win (title vs. streak). You can play it as new blood against seasoned pro, book it as a face/face, respect-with-a-hint-of-animosity, kinda feud, and watch the green roll in. Its a homegrown main event that doesn't need a one-off legendary blah blah" tag to sell it, and it shouldn't be discounte dbecause of Taker's reluctance to job. | GRL

Isn't he pushing 40? I don't know if they would end Taker's streak on someone they can't build upon for the next decade or so. | gater

Well, this is sort of along the lines of why I posted this info. I find it really odd that a sportsbook would put out odds on something that has an ascertainable answer. Now, I'm not saying that A) he would do it, or B) sportsinteraction.com would take the bet; but couldn't VKM bet $500,000 on Savage v. Steele, then book it as the ME?
...I suppose the sportsbook is betting against that possibility, though, huh?
Anyway, I thought it was mildly interesting. | spf

Something in the neighborhood of $500 or so for a max bet, and a clause that if the information becomes public that all betting ceases. Plus they watch for any clusters of bets on one outcome. So while it could be great for those of us who watch this stuff closely, maybe sneak in and 8/1 on Cena/HHH and make a few bucks, it's going to be tough to really swindle them. Shame, it would be a nice way to get some cash :) | flairforthegold13

Cena v. HHH v. Angle v. Edge
Batista v. Orton v. Taker v. Benoit (or Booker)
Call it the biggest main events in history, leave some doubt on who's walking out as champ. Hell, depending on business---say that the winners of the match will face off at the end of the night to unify the belts. | PerthHeat
