Moondog Spot, real name Larry Booker, collapsed in the ring during tonight's event at the Mid South Coliseum in Memphis and was taken from the building by ambulance and transported to Methodist Central Hospital.
Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and he passed away shortly after suffering the collapse.

His family was with him at the show and accompanied him to the hospital.

Spot had been a legendary figure in the Tennessee area for years and had also wrestled as Larry Latham.

I usually leave the mourning to others, but Spot put on some live matches in SMW I'll never forget. He also really helped out a friend while he was coming up through the ranks. This saddens me.

I hope you're at peace, Spot.

Sad to hear about Spot. I know of him, but never saw many of his matches.

I wonder if many wrestlers harbour a desire to die doing what they love doing best. Too many deaths in the wrestling world have come from substance abuse.

A sad day. Hopefully they bury Spot's favorite bone with him.

For those who missed it, or for those who don't even know it exists, former Memphis wrestling manager Scott Bowden writes a weekly wrestling column over at http://www.moviepoopshoot.com every Thursday. Two weeks ago, he wrote a great column on The Moondogs. It's a great read, especially now: http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/wrestling/ 62.html

It's hearing stories like this (or the one in Ted DiBiase's book) that really make you wonder what the hell a guy like Teddy Hart is thinking when he says that if he dies in the ring so be it.
