Yeah, I know I don't get out much. That's what happens when you have three little kids.

Anyway, my wife and I rented "Memento" this weekend and goddamn but all you guys were right. That was one the of the best, most intense movies I have ever seen. Guy Pearce was outstanding, as was Joe Pantaliano.

Thanks for the recommendation from months ago.

Did you rent the DVD? It has awesome special features, including the original story the film was based upon. Plus it has the option to watch the film in chronological order (although I think it's more effective backwards).

You got good taste there, pieman.

I didn't see this movie until even a few years after pieman, but it's become one of my favorites.

I need to see it again.

I'm just amazed that www.otnemem.com is still up. It's still a pretty good companion to the movie considering its age and the technology of that time!

Has this director done anything since? Such a promising start and he totally fell off the map.

Supposedly there's a SPECIAL EDITION DVD of Memento coming out later this spring...so just rent Memento for now...and hopefully Chris Nolan'll have a rockin' commentary, too.

From what I understand, at least one commentary.

I read an article the other day (sorry, don't remember where, I read too much stuff from too many sources) that mentioned there will be a ton of easter eggs and hidden features on it.

I also believe it's a two-disc set.

One of the confirmed easter eggs is the option to play the movie in chronological order. Also, to access the features at all, you will have to pass a "psychatric evaluation" answering question about Sammy Jenkins.

I think that may have only been on the Canadian version? Or was it that the American version got everything, and the Canadian's got nothing.... yeah, that probably makes more sense.

The feature to play the film in chronological order is in the Region 2 version. I've not actually done it that way around yet, but it's neat to have the option.

Right, there was no chronological order feature on the US DVD, other than going scene-by-scene and doing it yourself. I think it's for the best, really, because I don't see how it would help the movie to play it in chronological order. The editing and interweaving of the scenes as in the film's running order is brilliant part of the thing, as is the fun mental exercise of putting it together yourself after you've seen it the first time.

It should have had a commentary, though. I liked the movie, but everytime I've watched it, there are one or two details in there that, to me, potentially tear the whole thing apart and I'm wondering if Nolan really has an answer or not. I'd probably have to take a look at it again to work out what they are. Including the short story it was based on was very cool, on the other hand.

I rented Nolan's "Following" about a month ago. It's about a writer who becomes obsessed with following strangers around. It's almost like a test-run for "Memento", as the scenes are not chronologically arranged and there are some common themes. If you can find it at the video store, it's definitely worth checking out.

Well, I finally got around to seeing Memento last night. I bought it used on Saturday($4 to rent, and $5 to buy? Might as well buy it) and sat down to watch it. After hearing just about EVERYBODY rave about it, I was sure I was gonna have my expectations too high, and I was gonna be dissapointed. Turns out my expectations weren't high enough. I was almost feeling actual pain when I had to pause the tape.
