I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you read the softcover version with the "special" bonus chapter that Mick Foley himself ended up hating.
No, I read the hardcover journal, and it was almost like a trainwreck...the entire novel was a smooth ride on a fast train, and then he wins the title...but the way he wrote it, it was like he was writing it as he was putting the book into the printer, just write something and let it go. It was ridiculous.
I haven't read the soft cover version...maybe I should.

Well I'm halfway though Listen You Pencil Neck Geeks, and I can barely put it down. Except for the first few obligatory pages about growing up poor or whatever, this book is great. He writes about wrestling at carnivals, kayfabing your own family, the birth of the NWA, wrestling's introduction to TV, wrestling bears, fighting Rikizodan, Buddy Rogers, Gorgeous George, and Sammartino. Abnd I'm just getting to the point where he goes to work for Vince Sr.
Refreshingly, the book feels written for adults and not high school students. Every other word is "fuck" or "pussy," and there's a hilarious passage about some kind of lube he discovered in the early 60's that solidified his status as "God's gift to women."
And of course, theres lots baout being mauled by insane fans - stabbed, doused in acid, death threats, getting his Caddy smashed in, etc.
So far, so good. I'll give another update when I'm finished with the book. Oh yeah, as a reminder, I'm reading a library copy, so I can't promise how sweet this would taste after dropping $25 on it. So be sure to borrow a copy whenever possible.
