I guess since hearing about Cash, Ritter, and Goz wasn't bad enough I went online to see if their was any new news only to find out that Larry Hovis (aka Sgt. Carter on Hogan's Heroes) died Wednesday. They said he died of cancer.

That really sucks to find out. I loved Hogan's Heroes and it doesn't help when 3 other great people have died that same week.

Or at least not all at once.

I thought these things were supposed to come in threes. This is five, if you count Warren Zevon.

Six if you count Leni Riefenstahl.

Maybe it's be three threes. I'm thinking Pope John Paul II, Scott Bakula and... let's say Bill Apter.

I mean, I hope I'm wrong, but... geez enough with the dying, Hollywood.

Unless it's Pauly Shore dying in a messy and entirely preventable way, so I can make a tasteless Halloween costume out of it.

What's wrong with Scott Bakula, or am I missing a *joke*?

For some reason, I'd always picture him going out in an explosion of some sort, to fit the mold of his character.
And, does this mean Richard Dawson is the only Hogan's Heroes regular survivor?

Ivan Dixon and Robert Clary are still alive and working as far as I know. Dixon directs and Clary was doing soaps awhile ago, but I haven't seen him lately. Kenneth Washington (who replaced Dixon in the violent, shot on film final 1970 season) may still be around, but I don't know.

Incidentally, my brother got me the Hogan's Heroes collectors plate from the Danbury Mint (classy!) a few years ago for xmas and it had Washington instead of Dixon--odd.

To throw in the game show reference, Hovis was EP of "Liar's Club," and IIRC, "Celebrity Sweepstakes" as well. Hovis was at least a semi-regular on the former.
