I mean, I am sure we all expected this but it's still......I mean, I just spent an hour reading about Ritter.

Hopefully not too tasteless for the readers, but me, I hope JP2 makes it through the day because I don't think I could take even MORE eerie occurences compounding my 9/12.

WTF? Holy crap, I was just flipping through the channels an hour or two ago and saw Kurt Loder on MTV News saying he was fine, home, and "resting comfortably".

Jeez. The Man in Black, Jack Tripper, and Captain Murph. I think I'm going to call in sick to work tonight and stare at the wall for a few hours. ):

I feel like a family member has died. Just last night I was looking at Cash CDs downtown and thinking I should pick up some of his lesser-known stuff.

I grew up on Johnny Cash, thanks to my Dad's influence. Dad always jokes he should have named me Sue to toughen me up a bit.

RIP, Mr. Cash. At least you're back with June again. And I think you left this world knowing how much you are loved and respected.

I plan to crawl outside these walls
Close my eyes and see
Fall into the heart and arms
Of those who wait for me

I cannot move a mountain now
I can no longer run
I cannot be who I was then
In a way, I never was

"September When It Comes", a duet with daughter Rosanne on her current album "Rules of Travel" (which, as an aside, is one of the best releases of the year).

RIP Johnny.

I guess in a sense we all knew this was coming. I don't think I ever believed it, though. Sure, Cash was sick, but he couldn't die. He was fuckin' Johnny Cash. He's not supposed to die. Strong is he with the force, but not that strong.

I gotta run so I'll say my regards to Cash a little later, but I do know that he wanted to keep recording (he was making American V), and despite Hurt being sad, he was joking throughout the taping and said it wasn't his swansong or last message and that he had plenty more to come. So even though he didn't mean it to be his last, it sadly was.

Cash has so many songs in the can that Rubin can make money off him for years to come...and almost certainly will. In fact, there's a box set coming out just in time for Christmas, isn't there?

It's funny how when something like this happens, it's as if you have lost a good friend even though you have never met.

But in the same token, I feel that the Johnny Cash that I know will continue to live on through his music. He was just that great that his music has withstood the test of time.

I'll continue to listen to the man in black, and if I ever have children, they too will learn the greatness of Johnny Cash's music.

My only regret listening to Johnny Cash is that I didn't start sooner.

Thank you Johnny, and RIP.

Damn, this sucks...

Not a good day in the world of celebrities...

I've never seen the Johnny Cash "Hurt" video. Mainly because I never watch MTV or any of its ilk.

anyone know where I can check it out? I'd like to see what everyone's buzzing about.

Thanks

We took a weekend trip to Plymouth Rock with the three younguns last fall and there were just two artists that played in the CD player on the way down and back - Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. The kids absolutely loved the Cash stuff. They particurly liked Ring of Fire, Boy Named Sue and The Ballad of Ira Hayes. His music is really timeless.

The last few years I had firmly established my monday night ritual. Meet up with friends at a local bar and watch RAW and then walk down to an even seedier bar and proceed to drink heavily and listen to all the Johnny Cash albums on the jukebox. In recent times as I had grown less and less interested in watching RAW I kept going out more and more just to be with friends and listen to the man in black.

I have a feeling this Monday will be a special one for all of us there at the Nite-lite.

Raise some hell in heaven Johnny.

Eerily enough, I bought a Johnny Cash album just last night. His death wasn't a surprise, but I always kinda figured that Cash would hang on until he was 80, just as a big fuck-you to death. RIP Man in Black.

Oh man! Now I'm sad. He was the only guy I can think of that my grandparents, my parents, me, and even a couple of my younger siblings actually liked. Oh great, I know my mom is gonna cry when I break the news to her. I showed her the "Hurt" video just last week and she almost started crying and told me it wouldn't be long 'till he died. I hoped she was wrong, but I knew...

RIP

This is sad news, expected, but sad. He finally was able to fight off the personal problems he had with substance abuse, and was being respected in worlds other than country music. RIP Johnny Cash, I will miss you!
