*sigh* I suppose it's true what they say - no one has ever gone broke by underestimating the importance of the American public.

See you in two weeks.

EDIT: So, how long until the next recall? I bet it starts before I'm back.

EDIT II: And, while I'm sure he won, how the hell can they call the election based entirely on exit-polling? How can they toss it to Schwarzenegger with, literally, 0% of the precints reporting? Does no one remember what happened in Florida in 2000?

I'm pretty sure that another recall cannot be started until 6 month have passed. And don't fret too much, you can still log in and read the board while banned. Just no responding. The last time I was banned, you could still send PMs, so if you really feel the need to respond, you could always do it on a personal level.

Of course, your deal was with CRZ, so I'm not gonna step forward and start your sentence. Either you're free until CRZ comes back, or unless Guru decides to take care of it when logs on.

I eagerly await the Homer Simpson like "D'OH!" that you hear resonate from California in early Novemeber, when it finally dawns on the whole state that as funny as the idea might have sounded at the time, you have now elected Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Governor of your state. And I fully expect this to be a bipartisan cry, as the GOP there realizes they elected a strong pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro-gay rights, pro-government programs (look at the one political involvement he had before this) guy with no real ties to the GOP, and oh by the by, he's a Kennedy by marriage. Perhaps the folks in Minnesota can give you a tutorial on how to deal with the aftermath of one of those "It sounded like a good idea at the time" elections :)

I have a confession to make.

It was a sucker's bet.

My honeymoon precludes me from being online for the two weeks anyway, so it's not like I was REALLY giving anything up if I'd lost.

Mind you, I STILL appreciate looking like a freakin' genius for calling this back when I did, but there's no way I could carry this out in good conscience.

There'll be no OlFuzzyBastard bannings tonight.*

As a resident of Virginia, where politics are decided in Lynchburg, at Jerry Falwell's doorstep, as opposed to Richmond, our capital, let me say one thing.

Maybe, just maybe, the recall wasn't that bad of a thing. Granted, I'm not a citizen nor resident of California, haven't been for 12 years. I can say, however, in my past 12 years here in Virginia, if we had a chance to change the political climate as drastically as you guys have, it'd be wonderful.

Pro-choice AND pro-gun control? What if I choose to own a gun?

Yes, Virginia. I lived there for a while last year. Interesting people you have there. At least Newport News county allowed alcohol. My personal fav was the pick-up with the gun-racks in the back and the "Real men love Jesus" bumper sticker!

I'm working off the hangover - I literally drank myself stupid after it was announced that I live in a state that voted for Arnold Nazi-enegger (which only meant I ended up with a major headache, AND he's still governor). I hated Davis, but this is absurd.

There's actually a place called "Lynchburg"?

Reese Witherspoon for President! At least she went to Harvard.

This is like an SNL skit come to life, except with fewer fart jokes and instances of Jimmy Fallon breaking character.

I also question the logic of Flea over on 411, cliaming that the 'main' reasons for this whole recall thing was for Arnold to carry California for Dubya in 2004. Isn't this a risky move to assume that Schwarzenegger (or any Republican) wouldn't drop the ball in a big way over the next year? Presuming Gray Davis had stayed governor, wouldn't the enormous distaste that most Calis had for him helped the GOP anyway?

Well, my city elected a raging drunk to two terms as mayor...and then the province elected him to two (or maybe three now) terms as premier. It doesn't matter if he's a philandering douchebag, just as long as he shows up to work.

Heck, though, this still is pretty surreal. Mr. Freeze is the Governor of California. Is The Body still Governor of Minnesota?

At this point I think Jesse is still the Governor of Minnesota.

My only question is, when are Bill Duke and Carl Weathers running for office?

There's one in Tennessee as well, and you may have consumed a product from there on your drinking binge if you had any Jack Daniel's.

As for the whole Arnold thing, is anyone REALLY surprised? It's like a high school election: vote for the most popular person and be apathetic about the issues.

Maybe this is the precursor to the big one that finally rips California off the mainland and into the Pacific.

Ventura didn't seek reelection in 2002, and hasn't been Minnesota's governer since January. He's got a new talk show on MSNBC, but no one is watching it or even aware that it exists.

Actually in real life, she went to Stanford, but hasn't graduated there yet. Something about a movie career and family.

So it's the stupidity that causes you to type thing like "Nazi-enegger" on this board, right? I hope that like drunkeness, that's only temporary.

Actually, it was more anger than anything else. I'm not sure why that bothers you, but if it's an issue, then I won't do it again.
