| #1 Posted on 18.11.05 1457.10 Reposted on: 18.11.12 1459.01 | You know, Chris Jo tried to start a thread today, and it went poorly. (Check in the banished folder.) I must be in a nice, kind mood (it's payday) because I thought would guide young Chris Jo in the right direction instead of dropping the hammer of banishment. I wrote a (mostly) nice, clear private message explaining what he did wrong, and suggest what he might do better next time
Then he screwed it up by going off before he could read it. (as if he would. darn teenagers.)
Anyway, since I wrote it, and it's wasted on him, it'll now also be wasted on the board at large. If you're a new user on ANY board, and you've somehow found this post, please take my advice about the proper way of going about things.
Hi. Welcome to the board.
Your first thread was full of problems, and we'd all like for it not to repeat.
- the subject was pretty bad. "Angle, greatest wrestler of all time?" or "My case for Angle being the best ever" would've been fine. "Argue with this: Angle=BEST" is dumb. We're on a discussion board reading a thread, we know you want us to argue your post. By starting off the way you did, you set a bad tone.
- You were about half the posts in the thread, posting about 5 times in a minute. If you spend a little more time reading the board before you post anymore, you'll note no one else does this. The correct thing to do is to make your post, go do something else, and come back to it later after other people have had a chance to think about it and respond. Prowling around the thread and responding to every single comment is what threw it off the rails.
If you want everything to be just about you and your thoughts, go start a blog.
- No one's going to spend two seconds thinking about what you've written if you can't be bothered to spend two seconds yourself. Spelling "u" and rambling on and ending questions with periods because you appear to be rushing just annoys everyone else to the point where they're going to miss your message. If you present yourself like a dumb person, you're going to be treated like one. Again, read the board, and notice how people don't generally act that way around here.
I'm not banning you, yet. (Unless you've started a thread complaining about your first one being pulled, and then I sure have banned you.) But I'm going to ask you not to restart the same thread or any other thread for a couple days, and spend time reading the board to get a feel of it. Another dumb thread, and you'll be toast.

| #2 Posted on 18.11.05 1507.59 Reposted on: 18.11.12 1509.07 | | This is all good stuff. I'd like to add that I have no idea why the four people who aren't admins or moderators kept responding to him the way they did - well, actually I have a few ideas, but if I were to share them with you they'd probably just look pretty insulting to the people involved... so I'll keep them to myself for now. It's too bad Cubs didn't get a chance to respond first; this guy could have been turned around pretty easily and (MAYBE) been a valuable addition. Hell, maybe he still can, if he comes back and tries to comprehend what Cubs said. | jwrestle

To be fair, JJD's "Aren't you a week early?" quip was funny though. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
