That right there is why Carroll will fail. He doesn't have the personality to be a NFL coach, at least a successful one.

I don't see the problem. He's not asking for the public's advice.

Oh, and Bradford or Clausen.

He's just trying to build a buzz around the Hawks. Can't fault him for that, either. They need it like crazy.

Eh, I don't really see the problem with it either. It might create some buzz and I'm sure it won't impair their drafting.

Of course if things go horribly wrong for him in Seattle, a year or so from now it'll be one of those things people bring up and say "Geez, worra idiot", but by that time he'd have bigger worries anyway.

So yeah, why not?

1. This is something that would get a college fanbase excited, not a pro one.

2. Telegraphing who you want to draft so the other teams can read it doesn't sound very smart to me.

3. Things change so quickly during the draft, it's not likely that you can plan that far ahead. And if it's a last minute tweet right before a pick, what's the point in giving a hint?

Eric Berry maybe a good pick for the Hawks, Seattle's defense stunk last season.

I doubt they'll be telegraphing anything. I'd guess it'll be ludicrously cryptic and/or misleading and/or last minute.

It probably won't excite people, but it might at least get 'em talking about the Seahawks, who have been terribly bland for a year or two now. Honestly, I don't see a major downside here (unless they *do* decide to totally telegraph their intentions early tonight. In which case, yeah, dumb.)

That's the only thing I'd be worried about.

For the record, it seems the popular guess on Twitter is Taylor Mays. But I don't know if that somehow is coming out of those clues or if that's merely because he played at USC.

Are you kidding me? If you are a GM or a coach in the NFL and someone tells you the team picking #7 in the draft is going to openly announce/give clues to their pick before they make it, why would you NOT be paying attention?

If you are a GM and a coach and you're worrying about who #7 is picking when you're picking below that, you're doing it wrong. They have enough to worry about, like, picking their own player. I assume they have quite a few picks on their board and will just go with whoever they can, so it really won't matter if they know ahead of time who Seattle is picking. And if they're drafting 6th and will change their pick so Seattle won't get who they want.. well, that's how you lose a job.

I still think Seattle needs a QB.

Don't pretend to have some insight about Seattle's quirky fanbase, one that is actually more college-like than pro-like in a lot of ways. At 5:45 last night, what was the topic on the sports-radio station I listen to? Pete Carroll's Seahawks' Draft Clues Tweets. And I didn't say "excited", I said "buzz" - "pay attention to US", if you will. So it kind of did what it set out to do, even though we're all more interested in what the Hawks will ACTUALLY do.

There's no market in this country that goes from Awesome-to-Apathy-and-back faster than Seattle, and since Super Bowl XL they Hawks have done about all they can to get to Apathyville. Pete Carroll is just trying to keep pace (and say "HEY THE DRAFT IS TOMORROW DON'T FORGET" to the local fair-weatherers, who are more interested in the hopefully resurgent Mariners and Huskies' spring practice right now.

If you are 1-6 Seattle's wants are irrelevant because you already know what your pick is going to be. If you pick after them, it doesn't matter what Seattle does until the later rounds when you have less time to make a pick. So its pretty much ado about nothing.

Just an aside, but Seattle picks 6th. Cleveland has the 7th pick and I am really, really hoping Berry slips thru to # 7.

If you want the same player Seattle is hinting at taking, and they give the hint with enough time for you to do a trade and move up ahead of them, I could see that happening. Depends how badly you want that player and what kind of deal you can swing.

If it's no big deal at all, then why doesn't every team just honestly say who they want to draft each year, instead of the lies and misinformation we get now?

It may turn out to not mean anything, it may end up costing you the guy you want. Why take the risk? To create a "buzz"? OK, but what if that buzz is about how dumb this is?

Wow, people actually think he's actually going to telegraph their pick? I thought it was a joke even before I saw the list of songs.

and he also added it might have something to do with "The DaVinci Code", or the taser scene in "Hangover", and that it's as clear as Rosebud from "Citizen Kane".

This is a guy just having a little fun on his twitter account. I say good for him. Too many coaches have shown they have absolutely no sense of humor.

And if he got any of the other teams to waste time trying to "analyze" his songs, that's a bonus.
