Message on "Unscrewed" message board
To be honest, I never got into the Screen Savers; Unscrewed (alongside X-Play) was pretty much the only reason I watched TechTV, and - after the merger - was the only reason I watched G4TechTV.
Looking back, I remember there were a lot of naysayers after the merger, who were proclaiming "doom and gloom" about how G4/Comcast was only interested in two things:
(1) expanding their pool of viewers by "stealing" TechTV's installed userbase, and
(2) getting Morgan Webb under contract
They claimed that everything else TechTV-related would be flushed down the drain soon enough ... didn't want to believe it at first, but I guess it's come to fruition

I don't remember how they built up to it, but at the end of the episode he had some sort of crap dumped on him while the girls taunted him. That pretty much summed up the whole relationship right there. | Excalibur05

As for Morgan, it looks like they did the right thing there. X-Play's been cleaning up in the ratings, and I don't think its the legions of people who respect Sessler as a commentator that are doing it.
As for the people they cut:
-Marty will wind up on his feet somewhere. He's got good comic timing and he's a smart guy (Ivy League!). Dare I suggest he take over for Killborn? -Laura wasn't nearly as funny as she thought she was, but she's got her stand up career to fall back on, and she's a good looking girl, so it can't all be bad. -Yoshi is probably the guy I've heard them get the most crap over firing. I never thought he had the best screen presence, but he was smart as a whip. -Dan "Foo Foo" Huard was pretty worthless. Nice guy, but all he really did was say the phone number at the top of the show. -Alex Albrecht was ok, but never really fit in with the show.
But it still sucks. G4 is stupid to fire these guys and piss off a good chunk of the fanbase they just built up. But I guess they already got the stuff they wanted, so screw the rest right?
The guy who's coming up roses in this whole deal is Sessler. "You mean all I have to do is stand next to Morgan and get made fun of, and I get paid and can't get fired? Score!" | Torchslasher

Since you seem to know the ratings, can you tell me where you got the ratings information for G4/Tech TV?
I'm surprised that Unscrewed got canned. They had what was a strong lead-in, and also had the Interactive thing. I did the Interactive thing occasionally and even got on the top ten one day (I guess my I-Pod got lost in the mail).
Oh, and for Eddie Burkett, the show is called G4tv.com and they usually have some kind of video game contest at the end of each episode. This usually requires the loser to have something done to them.
As for Sessler, I've said this before, but he really IS the patsy for Morgan Webb. I've always disliked the treatment of him, and I think that his reviews are better done. It's a sin that he's portrayed as the buffoon, but Morgan Webb is kinda cute. | Excalibur05

But the X-Play numbers come from a Chicago Tribune article on them from a few months ago. I could probably try to wrestle up something more specific, but I'm trusting the Tribune on this one.

Sessler really deserves better. I mean, while Webb is a smart girl and knows her stuff, I mostly pay attention to Adam's gaming reviews. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
