From my perspective sitting in the stands, I just remember him hitting these punts when I was a kid that you'd look to see just how high the ball would clear the facade of the Orange Bowl.
Geez. HST yesterday and Reggie Roby today. It's not a good week to be one of my childhood heroes.

Best punters ever.
Spiff is right, Reggies style was so different from everyone else and he kicked those big high boomers. Man, what a sad day | JayJayDean

No, Beavis, that sucked.
Dom Gentile, the Packers' trainer from Lombardi's time through Holmgren's rookie campaign of 1992, always hated Roby for that. He was legitimately concerned somebody rushing Roby could get a finger caught in the wristband and ripped off.
Gentile tried complaining to the NFL about it, but during that time, Dolphins head coach Don Shula was on the competition committee...so no progress was ever made. | JayJayDean

Yeah, but that happened to Ronnie Lott anyway, and no wristwatch was involved.
I'm fairly certain if it had been a certain purple-wearing team's trainer doing the complaining, you 'd have thought the watch was BRILLIANT. :) | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
