While I think Chris Rock is funny, I would have put Will Ferrell atop my personal list ... here's the story ...

I must've read that too quickly. I didn't see a single mention of Andrew Dice Clay.

What the hell?!?

Okay... While I'm not as huge a fan of Andrew Dice Clay, or people posting lists or one liners... Chris Rock hasn't been funny in years. Is it me, or did he totally lose his edge with marriage and fatherhood? Since he's been married, he's been more subdued. I know, it happens. Look at Eddie Murphy and Chris Tucker.

His attempts at movies are horrible... Pootietang, Head of State, and the one with Anthony Hopkins (Not that the title is that important to me either). He was a writer or something with Wanda Sykes' show, which stunk.

This honor bestowed unto him is about 5 years too late, after Bring the Pain or so.

Dave Chappelle is funny and I've loved him for years, but I notice that this season of his show struggles to keep its edge and freshness (although I love the celebrity aimed skits).

The funniest person in America is actually Rev. Al Sharpton. Not only is he a joke, but I dare you to hold back your laughter when he's debating some issue.

If Will Ferrell is ever named the "Funniest Person in America," it will be because he physically killed everyone else in America.

OMG! I hated that movie so much. I can't think of one thing that I thought was even remotely funny. But, oh well... That's what makes us all different.

But, I can point out that you didn't comment on the other movies I thought were bad. The other movie was Bad Company... and what about Down to Earth?

I know, it's easy to nitpick, but I just don't find him THAT funny anymore. Which leads me to wonder where are the great stand-up comedians anymore? Did giving them their own TV shows ruin it for everyone?

Chris Rock's movies may suck but his standup is still the funniest shit you will ever hear in your life. He's back on the road putting together material for a new HBO Special, I believe.

There are great standup comediens out there like Mitch Hedberg, Jake Johannsson, Lewis Black, and many others that I can't think of right now.

Don't judge comediens by their TV shows or movies. Judge them by their standup. You'll be hard pressed to find a better standup act then Bring The Pain or Bigger & Blacker.

Those were true blasphemies to film, and trying to defend any of them to someone with even the slightest appreciation of film would be like trying to justify Jeffrey Dahmer to a group of vegans.

I think with Pootie Tang it's a group thing. If you watch it alone and try to analyze it I'm sure it's sheer torture, but with a bunch of likewise-stoned friends it's fall-out-of-the-chair funny.

I think this may be the only top ten list even to match at least nine out of ten with me. Brilliant call to include Ellen too, because she MADE Nemo fun for me and her last HBO comedy special was hilarious.

But seriously, there is NOTHING to complain about on this list. It has David, Stewart, AND Chappelle, all of which I was about to get ready to bitch about being excluded before reading the article.

Martin Lawrence is like this. I really enjoy Martin's stand up act, but his movies are almost always incredibly bad.

I agree with Ticamo that the Chris Rock pick is way too late, and I do think that he has been passed by Will Ferrall and maybe even the almighty Mitch Hedburg. Oh and Pootie Tang was awful, except for the first two minutes. The introduction is hilarious, but when you get into the plot of the movie the film spudders to a quick death.

Oh, God...Mitch Hedberg is AWFUL. Saw him open for Attell/Black on the Comedy Central tour and the audience was almost completely unresponsive to his retarded stoner jokes. Some of them were actually taking a piss break. He was supposed to warm up the crowd, not send them to the concession stand. Attell ruled, as usual, and Lewis KILLED. Mitch should have stayed home.
