Seven nominations for Arrested Development, one of them Best Comedy. Only Tambor, who is already an Emmy darling for Larry Sanders, got an acting nomination. Not Bateman, not Arnett, not Cross, not Walter, not even a GUEST STAR, as Raymond, Frasier, Friends and Will & Grace bogarted all of those.

Bateman isn't nominated because, even though he only produced three episodes this year and wasn't worthy of acclaim after twenty-eight last season, John Ritter just has to be nominated. I loved the guy like the comedy god that he was, but if you have to bump someone, bump LeBlanc, not the guy that deserves to win.

Comedy Series: Arrested, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Everybody Hates Raymond, Sex and the City, Will & Grace.

Drama Series: 24, CSI, Joan of Arcadia (good job, ATAS,) Sopranos, West Wing

Amber Tamblyn got a Best Actress nod for Arcadia, too, but the show only got three noms total.

Best actor in a drama: Gandolfini, LaPaglia, Spader, Sheen, Sutherland

Best actress in a drama: Tamblyn, Janney, Garner, Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU), Falco

Best actor in a comedy: David, Grammer, LeBlanc, Ritter, Shalhoub

Best actress in a comedy: Kaszmarek, Aniston, Heaton, Hunt, Parker

Drea de Matteo got a best supporting actress, drama nod as well, which was well-deserved.

I can't accept this as there is no Shield noms on this list. And Benito Martinez had to pantomime sucking cock this year. No one deserves it more then him. This is bullshit.

Nip/Tuck was nominated for best directing, for the pilot. This season, it wasn't eligible, because the eligibility was June 2003 to the end of May 2004. I think this also means that the Shield is still eligible for next year, since it went until the middle of June. I can't be sure, though, and the fact that it didn't get a single nomination is a crime.

I am shocked as hell that 'The Shield' doesn't have jack squat. CCH Pounder was screwed, as was Chiklis & Martinez.

"Arrested Development" didn't get screwed. The Emmys are so damn conservative about nominating new shows that it's a fucking miracle that they got anything their first year out, let alone a Best Comedy Series nod.

If you want bullshit - look no further than the nomination of John Ritter. Look, he was a great guy who was very funny and died way too young. That still doesn't disguise this from being perhaps the most blatant "we nominated him because he's dead" inclusion in the history of blatant "we nominated him because he's dead" inclusions. He died, like, four episodes into this season. Is that even enough to be considered a Lead Actor? (I know "The Office" was ineligible because they didn't have enough episodes.)

Not really. Awards...yes, it seems you have to be in your sophomore season to collect hardware. But most new shows that receive attention by the Academy do it in their first season with multiple nominations. This is incredibly apparent on the drama side, where ER, Six Feet Under, NYPD Blue and The Sopranos all received close to twenty noms their first season...but didn't win Best Drama. (Two of the shows still haven't.) If you're going to honor it with a Best Comedy nod (and I expect Curb to win, since, as we established, Arrested won't be allowed to win (sigh) until season two) let the actors (especially Arnett and Bateman) be rewarded as well.

What really bothers me about the Emmys are new categories such as "Outstanding Reality Program" and "Outstanding Reality-Competition Program."

Of course, nothing would be more amusing to me than the thrase "The Emmy-Award Wining Penn & Teller: Bullshit!"

I'm more annoyed that John C. McGinley got the shaft yet again. That's at least two years in a row he merited a nomination for Best Supporting and didn't get it.

Fundamentally, I think the whole thing stinks, since broadcast and cable are different playing fields.

That said... what's with the luv for Joan of Arcadia???

My dream world had Will Arnett (winner), Jeffrey Tambor, David Cross, and Michael Cera, along with John C. McGinley, dominating the best supporting field. Realistically, I was just hoping for Jason Bateman and Jessica Walter. I'm perturbed.

If Larry David wins best actor that will almost sort of make up for no JB. Maybe next year it will be wide open enough for the rest of the cast, along with the abused McGinley (Zach Braff is also pretty deserving in his own right).

Curb wasn't nominated until it's second season, still hasn't won, and it's been kicking everybody else's ass for four years. So let's *curb* all this whining.

I'll second the outrage for Ian McShane, and add some outrage for Timothy Olyphant and Deadwood as a whole. (And I'll throw in some outrage for Arrested, Scrubs, McGinley, Braff and Bateman as well.)

Oh please, the real crime is that Angel didn't get the nod for anything not ever best writing in a drama. Sopranos had four out the five nods for that category, WTF?! I am an Italian and yet even I see something wrong with that. I can see David not getting the nod, but fuck James has been playing Spike brillantly since Season 2 of Buffy. I don't fucking get it.

The Emmys will never nominate anything that isn't a hit or the critics cum over thats on a major network. If CSI wins, it will be a disgrace since Sopranos deserves it more. Joan is boring, West Wing didn;t have an compelling storyline in the latter part of the year, CSI has no storylines and 24's gimmick is dead. I say Angel doesn't get it, then let the mob rules. I won't go into comedies, mainly, because Arrested is the only one that makes me laugh. I'm glad Friends and Fraiser are gone opens to door to Scrubs.

Everyone just calm down. First of all, it's the Emmys. It's not exactly a serious award. Second of all, I'm actually really excited to see Arrested Development get nominated for best comedy series. For a first-year show, that's quite an achievement.

After next year, once Frasier, Friends and Sex and the City are gone, the AD actors will get their just desserts. It's not going to a problem.

The only thing is that bothers me is that Will & Grace is still considered a good show, despite the fact that it peaked about three years ago and it now one of the worst shows on TV.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the James Spader nomination. Best character on the TV I watched last year.

The writing on CSI is brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

James Spader deserves the win, if there is any justice in the world. He played the most slimey, creepy lawler ever (and that is saying something).

AD will do fine next season.

As far as Angel goes, look at the facts, it wasnt a hit show, and the critics mostly didnt care for it. So, why would you realistically think they would get a nomination?
