Yeah, it sounds odd to me too, but according to Meltzer (wrestlingobserver.com)

The Sci-Fi Network is preparing a press release that will be released once either Vince or Linda McMahon approve the wording. It is expected to be released within the next week, possibly before Raw on Monday, and unless there is a late change, ECW will start on the network with a weekly time slot in mid-to-late June.

This certainly can't hurt the relaunch attempt I would think.

It works since Sci-Fi is a differnt network then USA, and makes the seperation of ECW and WWE more apperant.

And Sci-Fi is apart of the NBC-owned cable networks.

Could be worse, ECW could have ended-up on MSNBC or Bravo.

There are those who say Dr. Who is too extreme even for ECW. And we would be hard pressed not to agree.

That's pretty huge news. It'll help the Sci-Fi network, being the home of WWE-owned programming.

Now let's wait and see if they decide to give ECW its own day of taping...

It seems weird (not as weird as Saved by the Bell on Adult Swim), but if it means one less night of schlocky horror movies on Sci-Fi, I'm all for it!

Are you telling me that "SS Doomtrooper" was SCHLOCK?

Come on, man. That was epic WW2 drama right there.

I was thinking more of Grace Park ("Boomer" from the new "Battlestar Galactica") dancing atop the ECW Arena.

Hooray for ECW being on a channel that I actually receive, regardless of what else that channel shows for the rest of the time!

Whoa, different, cool because I just watched Ghost Hunters at 10pm this past evening.

Sci-Fi works for me because I can stand what they show on most days and can actually leave my TV tuned there on hours on end if the programming line up is good for the morning, day, evening, and weekend.

It still sounds better than running their show on the country and western channel.....

I haven't been this excited to watch something on the Sci-Fi channel since they acquired MST3K.

Of course, the best news to come out of ECW getting a show on the Sci-Fi Channel is that we can snark it for a long, long time to come.

I wonder if ECW will get some weird ass commercials with the "wwooooo EEEEE oooooo" song in which Stevie Richards turns into a basilisk.

This hasn't been mentioned yet but I wasn't sure it deserved it's own thread so I thought I would add it here. According to Between the Ropes Joey Styles will not be alone at the commentary table. He will be joined by Taz. This is great news for ECW, even though Joey would've been fine on his own, but horrible news for Smackdown. Smackdown may be the C show now. Supposedly they've already hinted towards Taz leaving by having Taz and Cole get into an argument, to which Taz said something along the lines of "well you're not as good as Joey Styles" but I don't watch Smackdown so I haven't seen it myself. Also it looks like there are tryouts being held for the open Smackdown spot, which is a relief at first I feared they would give it to Coachman.

I heard it (on the Smackdown right after Joey quit, IIRC), and to me, it sounded like Tazz was being sarcastic, making fun of Joey for thinking he's all that as an announcer. I didn't take it as disrespect of Cole at all.
