No one watched?

Well, had Boogeyman come back and deliver a squash match only to be squashed himself by Big V. I haven't watched in a while...jeez Vis with no top hurt my eyes. Go back to the giant pajamas!

Elijah Burke defeated Tommy Dreamer.

Miz with Extreme Expose defeated Balls Mahoney

Kevin Thorn attacked Steven Richards while cutting a promo.

Finally, CM Punk defeated John Morrison to claim a shot at the ECW Championship, with five seconds left in a 15 minutes of Fame match, in a match at SummerSlam

Punk absolutely has to win the title at Summerslam. Otherwise they might as well re-name him Lex Luger.

I like the new Viscera and his new edge, but for God's sake SOMEONE PUT A SHIRT ON HIM! That inevitable blowoff with the Boogeyman, though, will be painful to witness.

I love that Stevie Richards is on my TV and all, but at this rate, he and Kevin Thorn will easily break Undertaker and Kane's record of most one-on-one matches.

Not only that, but they've gotta put Punk over because there's no one else for Morrison to feud with. He already beat Dreamer conclusively and while I like that they're pushing Stevie, no one would buy him (or Boogeyman, for that matter) challenging for the ECW World Title. At least with Punk as champ they can feud him with Burke (yeah, I know that Burke's been Punk's job boy as of late, but the circumstances would be different with Punk holding the belt) or Cor Von (when he returns from his family leave) or Big Daddy V (where they at least have the size difference to use as a storyline).

Or they could rename him Batista Number 2. They would wear identical masks and bodysuits and continually fail to win the tag team belts.

I decided I don't like CM Punk much. In the ring he's pretty good, but he's a pretty boring character. "Blah blah I don't drink blah blah my only addiction is competition blah blah." He's been saying the same spiel for over a year. The only time he became interesting to me was that one week he joined the New Breed and he did Stevie Richards heel mannerisms. But that lasted a week and he went right back to same old boring Punk. I'm not saying he needs to turn heel but maybe a trace of humor or (not straight) edge to his character would really help. At least in my eyes.

This is my main problem with ECW at the moment. I like the roster, the matches aren't bad, but they're either the exact same matches from week to week, jobber squashes, or only slight variations on matches we've seen before. It'd be slightly more bearable if there were more extreme rules matches, but even then i wouldn't see much reason to watch it every week unless something new actually happens.

Hasn't that been the main problem with ECW from the very beginning, actually?

Finally got around to watching this, and frankly it's becoming a chore. I've been giving them time because of the obvious booking handicap they've been under, but the program (for me) may soon pass into the "Heat" level - where I might look at reports to see if there's anything worth seeking out.

I guess plans changed for the "15 Minutes of Fame" gimmick, or they were really treating us like idiots here. Somehow Joey and Tazz must have 'forgot' that the stip meant Punk merely had to survive the time limit to get a title shot, it was *Morrison that needed to get the pin. Booking-wise, wouldn't it have made sense to have the time run out during the three-count, and save the actual pin for the SummerSlam match?

There's also a problem here, in that there's one title on the program, and apparently one spot on the PPVs for ECW (the monthly title match). Which makes it hard as a viewer to invest in any of the mid-card programs. At least when there were two ECW-brand PPVs, you had somewhere to blow off a long-simmering feud.

Of course it's not that the E couldn't book mid-card programs to build to PPV matches, they just don't appear to have any desire to do it, this is a problem on all three shows.

Prob with ECW is they don't have enough wrestlers with their own personalities apart from one another. Outside of Big Daddy V and the Boogeyman, all the wrestlers look & act the same. The days of the old ECW are long over and Vince should give the ECW a well deserved retirement.
