It's more than that. It's awesome and fantastic. Witty dialogue + Charlie the spaz + stories so wrong they'd make Seth MacFarlane say "dude, that's wrong" + Sweet Dee = a show that's easy to get behind. "Charlie Wants an Abortion" is one of the funniest half-hours of TV this year.

Reposted on: 17.11.12 1500.26 | I think the dialogue and acting are both excellent, and FX was right to see the merit behind Philadelphia while cancelling the miserable Starved. My caveat has always been that their AUDACIOUS! plots can be trying a little too hard at times to be all taboo (tuesday) -- sometimes it works to perfection and other times it feels a tad forced. But off the top of my head, abortion, racism, underage drinking, and molestation were home runs.
Also, I know that miserable, loathsome characters is exactly what they're striving for, but no matter how unlikeably a Larry David or a David Brent or the Bluths might behave, I can't help but love them. With the Philadelphians, I just straight up dislike them, although Charie can be endearing at times.
I suppose the bottom line is that as long as you're bringing the hilarity as opposed to just trolling down the road of outrageousness because you have nothing else to offer, I can't complain, and the show has a lot to offer.
