This is probably about as newsworthy as that last thread, but we all know I am an insanely jealous man. Jealous of Bill Simmons. And maybe the Clippers. Nah, not the Clippers.

(EDIT: Sure, feel free to start YOUR own thread telling us what season tickets YOU own, too! After all, IT'S A STATEMENT)

Dude, as soon as Darko recommitted, that should have been a no-brainer.

(I actually like a lot of Minny's players, but have no idea why they have 5 small forwards and 4 point guards...)

I do not have Miami Heat season tickets, but I don't feel a thread for this news is warranted.

And thus, another free agent is off the board. Damn, what are the Knicks gonna do now?!

I am a big fan of the trade I keep reading about and will start a thread just as soon as it's official. (Or maybe it is already? Let me recheck...)

I would have never guessed. How long have you been doing this to yourself?

I think I'm more shocked that you like the trade. Utah draft picks haven't ever really been that great, and the guy picking for you hasn't quite grasped the player picking art just yet.

Then again a Knicks fan quetioning a Wolves fan is probably the most counter productive thing this board has seen in some time.

Well, you didn't blast Darko this time, so I consider you as "evolving." ;-)

This will be our second season as season ticket holders, first season actually PAYING, and not coincidentally first season with decent seats. Having seen, what, about 35-45 games (most at the Target Center) from last season I do believe I can consider myself an expert on the current and future Timberwolves for the purposes of this board.

For instance: in my expert opinion, I REALLY don't think they can be as bad as they were in 2009-10.

Didn't CRZ live in Sacramento when the Kings were real good? Minnesota's gonna turn the ship around now!

Any word in the local papers or around Minny about Rubio and what they might do with him? I read somwhere that Toronto was going to make a play for Sessions... he's a bad as I think he is, right?

I think the optimists - and at this stage in the season, optimism is running rampant - really think Rubio will be on the Wolves roster next year.

Sessions is GREAT... off the bench. ;-) Actually I wouldn't mind the Wolves keeping him but it sure sounds like he's got a foot out the door.

Not to be a stick in the mud or anything like that, but how do the optimists square this view with the Wolves' rejection of the Pacers' offer of the 10th pick in this year's draft for Jonny Flynn? That's a pretty penny for a guy with only one year under his belt. Yes, Flynn was fantastic last season (top 5 in scoring amongst rookies, I believe), but isn't Rubio supposed to be better than a sure thing AND already playing at a higher level? From what I remember reading around draft night, the Wolves took about five seconds before rejecting the offer. It would be odd to afford Flynn that kind of "untradable player" treatment if you really thought Rubio was coming to the team.

To try to answer my own question, perhaps Flynn *is* tradable, but one draft pick (lottery or not) wasn't enough trade bait for them? Not sure I'd agree, but it isn't the worst logic in the world. The way I look at it though, if you're the Timberwolves, and you have Ramon Sessions on your roster with Rubio possibly/probably on his way, I think you have to at least ponder the offer. One of your three PGs, any of whom could start for you, in exchange for the 10th overall pick. That pick, by the way, could have gotten them any of the following potential starters: Xavier Henry (SG), Cole Aldrich (C), Avery Bradley (SG), James Anderson (SG), Jordan Crawford (SG). Might have even been able to trade down a bit and still get one of those guys. Of course, if they draft Cole Aldrich, I'm not sure Big Al gets traded right away as he could stick around and teach Aldrich some (mostly good) things. And that would probably spell the end for Darko's tenure with the team. Maybe not the happiest of alternate universes for the Zed household. =)

(For the record, the fantasy GMing mess that took place in the last paragraph leads me to believe the Wolves are content with building around Flynn and see Rubio as a sign-and-trade player at best.)

On Flynn: They took him #6 in 2009, he played well, so you trade him for #10 in 2010? Not only would you be essentially trading down, you'd be trading a somewhat known commodity for an unknown. Plus, until Rubio actually shows up and signs a contract with the T'Wolves, they'd be crazy to move Flynn unless they can get multiple pieces.
