After Smackdown, everyone seemed so bummed that Taker went over Benoit and Angle that I felt compelled to offer some sorely-needed consolation. Let's look at the big picture together, shall we?

1. Judging by the posts, everyone wants to see Brock Lesnar's title reign done right. In other words, we want him to be the unstoppable heel for a pretty long stretch.

2. We want his first loss to go to another young star who can use the rub to break into the main event.

3. We don't want the person in #2 to be the #1 contender now. The current #1 contender (and hopefully the next few) should be squashed.

4. There's a lot of hatred for HHH and UT going around. Guess what? UT is up for the squash, with HHH likely to join him through some plot twist.

Conclusion: UT and HHH are the current sacrificial lambs for Lesnar. I have to believe they're there to give him the rub at the next PPV. Lesnar, the man who will have beaten Rock, HHH, and UT, will eventually fall to a Benoit, Angle, RVD, or (dare I hope) Jericho.

Aww, who am I kidding? Benoit lost! *weeps bitterly*

Although Benoit and Angle are my favorite wrestlers, I had no problem with the finish. I don't think anyone lost heat because the finish, while not being a screwjob, did not diminish anyone's finisher or ability. Benoit and Angle, according to the story in the ring might have beaten UT, but didn't because of the other guy.

Who gets it from Brock? (Personally, I think HHH goes over, but let's live in fantasy world)

I'm telling you, if the darn guy could just talk, it's gonna be Baptista. He ROCKS!

The Prototype (John Cena) needs to wear more manly ring attire and do the stuff he was doing on OVW. Cheat. He could also be great. They haven't shown anything he can do yet. Maybe when Brock pushes Paul E away for good, Paul E picks up The Prototype. Yes!

Book. That should be the megapush for him.

I vote for one of these guys

It would be nice though if after about 15 years in the business, Taker might learn something new. The concept of selling comes to mind.

He's gone from an unstoppable zombie to a bad-ass biker, NEITHER of which is really kown for selling at all. Selling wouldn't really go with his character, and frankly he wouldn't be nearly as cool if he DID sell. Big guy like that selling for guys a foot shorter and 80 pounds lighter?!

Undertaker selling during a match would be like Gene Simmons not spitting blood and/or fire during a KISS concert, and I'm NOT ready for that thankyouverymuch!

I will also point out, pursuant to the double-submission spot: Taker had his right arm pinned, Benoit's arms around his face, and Angle holding his left leg in a death grip.

There wasn't much left over to sell WITH. ;-) Nonetheless, I recall my husband and I commenting at the time that he was selling the Crossface better than Rikishi had a few minutes previous. The fat man looked like he was taking a nap. Taker at least was making ouchie faces and gestures towards the ropes.

Not to mention, if he had tapped, which opponent would have won the match?

Undertaker's putting Brock over. There's no doubt about it. Vince wants to put Brock over as a huge force and he's doing it by any means necessary, so look for Undertaker's name to be on the victims' list next to The Rock and Hulk Hogan. Whether UT looks good doing it or he does it without a screwjob is another issue.

Triple H, on the other hand, will NOT put Brock over. I already planted the scenario of PoocHHHie planting ideas backstage that the reactions Brock has been getting should warrant a face turn for him. It'll likely happen and that'll leave PoocHHHie as the heel to knock him off. I've got a bad feeling about this. I'm having Starcade '98 flashbacks.

My point on the selling wasn't so much the facial reaction, but at least show that the anklelock might slightly impair a persons ability to walk. As Benoit was selling the anklelock like he has been shot in the leg, while at the same time Taker looks like the anklelock was like a fly going off his foot.

Rikishi no sold the crossface? I don't know what you're talking about! He screamed like a baby and it was awesome! And I'll say I like "the Keesh" right now.

Also, I don't think I'd like Brock jobbing to Batista until I see more of him wrestling and eventually talking to see whether or not he can carry a storyline (maybe he's getting the Velocity treatment this week, I haven't looked).

Hmmm.... what if Lesnar and Batista formed some unstoppable monster heel tag-team? Will we be entertained, or will it just be another 'Brothers of Destruction'?

Why do people think Batista is the next next big thing? Sure he looks great but he doesn't seem all that good to me at least. What is really better about him than Bull Buchanan right now? Plus it's not like Devon is an upper carder and that they are having a compelling feud. Give the guy a tag title or IC reign then people can talk about his WWE title reign.
