I don't know about you, but I loved Chang Noir. Best use of Chang since he was Senor Chang. Chang Noir could have spin offs, webisodes, maybe 7 feature films. Maybe not that last one.

Another great episode about the group's dysfunctional dynamics. They have great success bringing in outsiders to be horrified by the group. The offenses they heaped on Todd ("None taken!") were terrific, especially what dicks they were to him at the end as the show irised out out his one tear.

The insults the group heap on each other are even better:

"You're just a good grade in a tight sweater!"
"Who the hell are you always texting? Everyone you know is here!"

Plus Professor Omar: "I have so many conversations that don't make any sense!" "You guys have the weirdest reactions to things." Also: "What happened to Legos? They used to be simple." I know, right?

I NEED another clip (Justin), and you know which one I mean: Britta making gun sounds counting down her fingers while failing to flip the bird.

This episode felt a bit Seinfeld-y - especially at the end with The Group bashing Todd while he was sitting right behind them.

Best moment, if it only weren't for the dueling voice-overs with Chang and the Dean...

The closing credits penis gag was hilarious.

As for the episode as a whole, I can accept watching a show composed of likeable people. I don't really like watching a show that used to have likeable people but now seems to be composed of assholes.

The episode had it's moments, but I agree these guys have become more and more unlikable and I'm starting to have a hard time believing that they even like each other enough to hang out as much as they do.

I agree with that point, but it shouldn't be overlooked that Todd was great, slowly turning from weird Greendale student to normal person as the Study Group went the other way.

Annie feinting was the best, Britta and the attempted finger were next and Chang and the Deans dueling voice overs were third. I agree that it felt weird seeing them all portrayed as assholes. I am hoping this was a one time thing and they can move on. Oh and the Professor saying to Magnitude "they're laughing at you" and Magnitude's reaction was brutal!!

That was great.

I honestly don't get why people shit on Britta, she's amazeballs.

I think Community has over the course tried to pay attention to the concept of ensemble casts and groups of friends. Friends fight, friends get sick of each other. Real friends, good friends, but it doesn't matter in the long run. In the past they've played it up before with the threat of someone leaving the group or the group disbanding -- by the time they got to the clip show episode, IIRC everyone basically said "well we know we're going to stay friends but we're all still pissed right now."

I think that's a more honest perspective than some shows, including very 'traditional' ones, where the main characters are all constantly insulting each other for the sake of the jokes on the page but at the same time we're supposed to believe they're terrific close friends.

The flipside is on sitcom ensembles -- to the viewers, they're the protagonists and the heroes, and it makes sense that they spend all their time with each other because they're the core characters on a TV show about their interactions. To everyone else around them at Greendale, from Todd to Starburns to Jack Black, they come off as an exclusionary, bizarrely codependent "mean clique."

The more I think about this episode the more I like it. Todd was a revelation, the new character find of 2011, down to his delivery of "promised my dying father."

I don't really know if the study group were "assholes," but what this episode actually reminded me of was the Frank Grimes episode of the Simpsons – depicting how a normal, harmless, hard-working person would react when interacting with the inherent, accepted absurdity of the main characters. Closing with the single tear was a great finishing touch.

What maybe was a little odd was Chang's descent from pathetic weirdo to complete delusional schizophrenic, but I suppose that's been building for a while. Plus it allowed for great narration bits like, "She had legs that went all the way up to the bottom of her torso. The kind of arms that had elbows."

"If loving worms is stupid, then maybe I don't wanna be smart." "It is! And you can't be!"

The legs part has been a staple saying of mine for years.
And I feel Chang has always been like that.
Calling yourself El Tigre and having a tiger pattern paintball gun doesn't come across as pathetic weirdo to me.

I didn't so much get the vibe of them being assholes.
This is just how people are. Especially looked at from an outsiders point of view. Poor Todd.

The professor is also a great character as that he basically says what a regular person's reaction oughta be.
WTF is wrong with these people?

The one thing that's getting slightly annoying to me is the Dean's obsession with Jeff.

I liked the Todd stuff, as it reminded me a bit about the role that Jerry plays on Parks and Rec. The B story of Chang-Noir did not work for me though; there had to be a better way to get to the endpoint of Chang becoming head of Security without making Chang so crazy (his relationship with Shirley last year provided some humanity to his character, and now he is right back to being insufferable).
