Awesome stuff coming up!

--DC COMICS--

On the DC website, they will be offering a $100 subscription price for 52. Hmm... good idea, take money away from LCS's by undercutting them.

Smallville's Chloe Sullivan will be 'incorporated' into the SUPERMAN titles this year. This is GREAT! I wonder what Lois will think about Chloe?

Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson (Preacher!, Punisher!) will be doing a 5 year, 60 issue series (YES! NOT A TYPO!) for WILDSTORM called THE BOYS. It's about a group of government agents who deal with 'superhero problems'. Okie-doke!

KINGDOM COME is NOT what the DCU is headed towards. KC will stay an Elseworlds story.

Ethan Van Schiver has a PLASTIC MAN book in the works... which might be the reason the current series was cancelled.

Dan Didio's is NOW making jokes about Dick Greyson dying, kinda like he was doing with Wally West before IC. This could either be a bad thing for Nightwing fans or a good thing for people who enjoy Dan Didio's humor... Shit, or both!

Shining Knight kicks the crap outta the Riddler in IC #7.

--MARVEL COMICS--

Thanks to the success of MARVEL ZOMBIES, MARVEL APES will be coming around next year! What the fuck would a 'Wolver-ape' look like?

Speaking of zombies, Jack Kirby LIVES AGAIN! JACK KIRBY'S GALACTIC BOUNTY HUNTERS comes out in July. It's based on 'long lost drawings and notes' found by his daughter. Actually, I think I smell a SENTRY redux.

PUNISHER: WAR JOURNAL returns, thanks to CIVIL WAR. Frank will be going after super-powered bad guys, it seems.

Howard Chaykin is drawing the Captain America solo issue of the NEW AVENGERS. It's a CW tie in.

Jeph Loeb and J. Scott Campbell will be working on a SPIDER-MAN book later this year.

Marvel is doing a HALO graphic novel.

Robert Kirkman has THE IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN coming later this year.

There is NOT a third WOLVERINE book in the works... supposedly.

UNCANNY X-MEN will be out in space for half the year.

Cable and Sabertooth will be featured prominantly in X-MEN later this year.

CABLE/DEADPOOL is still not being cancelled!

Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev will be doing the SPIDER-WOMAN ongoing title later this year, after CIVIL WAR.

ULTIMATE IRON-MAN returns next year. FUCK, THAT LONG!

HOLY SHIT! An X-book I can look forward to is CIVIL WAR: X-MEN, which according to writer David Hine "...does NOT feature Wolverine in ANY way, shape, or form." This, sadly, might be the WORST SELLING X-Book to ever be printed, due to this statement.

An X-book I am NOT lookng forward to, however, is EXILES as written by Chris Claremont. He's bringing Psylock with him, who I can't stand as a character.

Magneto will be 'showing up' in NEW AVENGERS early next year.

Charlie Knauff, creator of CARNIVALE told fans that the show "...was not quite dead yet."

The Chloe news is awesome! My wife is always asking why Clark and Chloe can't hook up, and I'm always telling her it's because Chloe's not in the comics. (Probably won't change anything on the show, but still...)

Marvel Apes sounds like a terrible idea, but I'm very intrigued by The Irredeemable Ant-Man. The title alone has me sold.

I like Psylocke well enough, but seriously, are we ever going to find out why she's alive again? That seems like something that would be important to know.

Gah. Claremont is such an insufferable sci-fi dork. He'll put anyone and anything into space. Even dinosaurs.

...I shouldn't give him ideas.

Claremont's going off Uncanny. Brubaker's taking over, and he's the one who's putting the team out in space. Also, why is the X-men in space more sci-fi than just the X-men in general?

Oh, okay. I just knew Claremont was currently writing it, and automatically attributed the space thing to him (since he loves him some outer space).

I guess you could make the argument that the X-Men are Sci-Fi, however I (and I think most other comic readers as well) would normally differentiate between standard meta-human comic book situations and more traditional sci-fi fare (such as going into space, fighting aliens, etcetera).

I have to admit that I'm heavily biased because I always found it to be an annoying quirk with Claremont. While the Dark Phoenix Saga was great and all, I always felt it detracted from the main point of the book (Xavier and his students fighting against discrimination and the fear humanity has for them) to have them flying around with the Shi'Ar and being attacked by the Brood.

The final nail in the coffin for me was "X-Men: The End." With all the franchise has built to and up over the years, and all the issues (such as discrimination) the foundation of the franchise was built on, Claremont had them being attacked by Super Skrulls who blew up the mansion and killed characters, which detracts from the more Earth-bound traditions of the franchise and uses an alien menace that's traditionally part of Fantastic Four canon.

That (Fantastic Four) is a book I would consider more heavily Sci-Fi, and it's expected to be so. That's why I don't have a problem with it as much as I do when a book like Uncanny veers off into that direction for no good reason.
