Twins players, especially Doug Mientkiewicz, have said their inspiration is to have Selig hand them the World Series trophy later this month.
"If I was their Knute Rockne, then they owe me something for that," the baseball commissioner said, citing the Notre Dame football coach of the 1920s who was famous for motivating players.
How about a nice kick up the bum? I can think of a few million Minnesotans who would love to give him one - free of charge - for trying to wipe out the Twins and give his old friend Carl Pohlad a big check in return.

Honestly, Minnesota is where they're at because they are a good team, a good team that didn't need an super sized salary to go out there and play solid baseball and win games.
I'm biased because I'm a Twins fan (mostly through my mother, my dad likes sports but not specific teams), born and raised in Minnesota (though currently living in Wisconsin), but nothing would make me happier than to see Bud be so smug about getting rid of them this season, only to have himself hand over that trophy to the Twins this month.
Victory would never taste so sweet.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Twins win the World Series, so they can take the World Series trophy...
Polish it up until they can bounce a laser beam off of it...

Bud Selig gets TOO much blame for the bad things and not ENOUGH credit for the good things that happen in baseball.
I'm not saying he's a good commissioner or anything, but they way he's portrayed is just ridiculous. Anything that goes bad gets blamed on him (All-Star Game...manager's faults, period) and anything good that happens, they find some way to give credit to someone else.
I guess my point here is...sucks to be him. | PeterStork

Though, again, he's not perfect. I just wonder if any previous commissioner (save Judge Landis himself) could do any better in today's environment. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
