He's the only manager I've ever known as a Padres fan. It'll be weird to see him in orange and black.

And, hey, speaking of black, (San Diego State alum) Bud Black is expected to be interviewed for the now vacant Padres job.

When Bochy was a Cubs rumor, the local writers said that the Cubs would only ask to interview him if they were sure they were getting him. Seeing how quick this was done, I guess it was the same deal here.

The Giants (and the Nationals - and maybe the Cubs) look like a bad situation, at least in the short term. I know Bochy was going to be a lame duck manager next year, and maybe he really wanted to avoid that, but it seems like he's going to a team with a much worse outlook.

From the outside, this looks like Dusty's chance to get back in. It's the West Coach job he wants, and could possibly get (since Oakland sure ain't happening.) Looks like they're looking for a first year (and cheaper) manager, though.
It's False

Bud Black seems to be at the top of many teams' most wanted list and as an Angels fan, I hope to all hell that he sticks around. He's been a miracle worker for several years and especially earned his paycheck this year, taking a rotation that Bartolo Colon and Jeff Weaver left in absolute shambles and building a new rotation (Jered Weaver, Joe Saunders, Ervin Santana along with a much more mature John Lackey) that will sustain the ballclub for years to come. There's no way Mike Scoscia would be able to replace him or find anyone close to his talent level, so I personally hope he stays in Anaheim. But I can see why the Padres would want him, as I can only imagine what he could do with Jake Peavy.

The Padres still have a good crop of guys to choose from. I don't know why they haven't gone after Joe Girardi and that ship may have sailed. But Ken Macha's still out there and he's a proven success. Why not go after him?
