Sorry, I didn't start any threads last week and we ended up not talking about any of the wild card games (which, frankly, weren't really worth talking about).

Peyton had, what, :31 and 2 timeouts to get to field goal range? And he took a knee? They didn't deserve to win.

"God is amazing."

No spoilers please, the Packers/49ers game is on the DVR.

What an incredible game. I am shocked to see Baltimore win, I really thought this was going to be a special year for Manning and the Broncos. I agree that the Broncos should have gone for it at the end of regulation, that was pretty bad. Also majorly to blame was the safety who allowed Jacoby Jones to get behind him with less than a minute left and Baltimore needing a touchdown.

That scene of an emotional Ray Lewis after the game was pretty epic too.

"No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD."
-Isaiah 54:17

I want to say that this quote coming from RAY LEWIS, of all people, is unbelievably rich.

Not that I'm trying to ignite certain arguments again or anything.

That sound you heard coming from Florida was Tim Tebow having a well-justified last laugh at John Elway's expense. Maybe the Peyton 5000 will bring Denver championships in the future... but for this year at least, Denver got EXACTLY what they deserved karmically. (And as far as I'm concerned, this is what Peyton should look like all the time...)

What? Are you arguing that Peyton Manning is NOT a major improvement at the quarterback position previously occupied by Tim Tebow?

The Broncos made a move to make their team better, and they accomplished just that, regardless of the outcome of this game. I'd laugh hysterically at a team that would NOT make that trade.

Of course not. But even if Peyton was the God of Football himself descended from the heavens, giving Tebow a one-way ticket to hell after all he did for Denver last season would STILL be inviting bad karma. It's not something quantifiable.

Scoreboard:

Playoff wins for Tim Tebow in Denver: 1

Playoff wins of Peyton Manning in Denver: 0

I think a healthy Willis McGahee and/or Moreno for the whole game would have probably given Denver a win. Hillman did well enough but Manning had to mostly pass the ball and Thomas was largely absent from the game.

You don't even need to compare playoff wins between Tebow and Manning... Manning came to town and got Denver just as far as Tebow did.

Not that Tebow is better than Manning. Not that Eli is better than Peyton. I'm just irritated that I live in a world where those arguments are valid to any degree.

I'd say I can't wait until next week when the Ray Lewis Retirement buzzsaw runs into Tom Brady, but... I don't know how all this is going to play out. I love and hate the playoffs.

You don't know Tebow very well if you think he would take any pleasure in his former teammates defeat. He was probably rooting for Denver all the way. If he was playing against them, he'd probably be fiercely motivated- but as a fan on the sideline he's probably happy for his ex-teammates successes.

The guy is just complete class, regardless of religion or football prowess.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Are you outraged at seeing the 49ers win? Did they buck karma? They got to the NFC title game last season with Alex Smith and were 6-2 with him this year when they made the decision to start Colin Kaepernick. Why don't we all have to listen to endless whining about that decision? Why aren't you here complaining about that? Tim Tebow makes Alex Smith look like Joe Montana, so if you are this outraged by Tebow being sent packing by the Broncos, you must be furious at the 49ers. But a quick search of your posts reveals nothing about Alex Smith.

Last year, the Broncos snuck into the playoffs at 8-8 because they played in the worst division in football. Sound familiar? Probably because it's exactly what happened the year prior to the Seattle Seahawks, who went 7-9 and weren't very good but made the playoffs because they won a joke of a division. Like Denver last year, the 2011 Seahawks pulled off a shocker in the first round of the playoffs, beating the Saints, before losing in the divisional round. Guess what? The next year, the Seahawks dumped their quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck, to go in a different direction. Where was your forced outrage then?

Tim Tebow is not a good quarterback. Peyton Manning is on any credible short list for best quarterback ever. To the question of whether it is better to have Tim Tebow or Peyton Manning as your starting quarterback, there is only one correct answer, and that answer is not the guy who very possibly won't even be on an NFL roster next season. To criticize the Broncos for the best off-season acquisition in the league last year is laughable.

I think he read that story back in March (The W) but it came out later (and later in that thread!) that Tebow did not get to choose. (I don't have a point, but I think that thread from March is pretty amusing so I needed an excuse to link it)

I guess that depends on which Tebow you're talking about.

Hilarious. I've long hated Elway ever since he basically said "screw the draft" when he came into the NFL and everyone looked the other way. Elway dumps Tebow and his golden child doesn't do any better.

Elway along with most of the sports media is part of this quarterback club that has this specific definition of what a QB should be. They all crowed that Tebow would never be a QB in the NFL (he'd play a different position), but he was. Then they said he'd never win, but he got Denver to the playoff and then won. Now everyone wants to bring up the Jets, when that circus has been Sanchez's failure. But Tebow plays ugly, he's not a finesse guy, so he sucks.

Not saying Tebow is better than Manning or even close, but I think Tebow deserved better treatment.

As for Ray Lewis, the murder thing has always bugged me, but people act like it NEVER happened. I've even gone to the length of reading up on the case because I figured there had to be something I hadn't heard.

I'm the same. Elway was one of the three people I hold responsible for the Colts leaving since he said he would refuse to play for them. (Al Davis and Irsay are the other two)

It was sweet revenge for us to knock out his Broncos from the playoffs.

Every indication was that the Broncos were prepared to suffer through another season with Tebow at quarterback, but then Manning became available. If you are not saying Tebow is "even close" to Manning, then what are you complaining about? If you acknowledge that Manning is way better than Tebow (which he very clearly is), then how can you criticize the Broncos for choosing Manning over Tebow? What, exactly, was the bad treatment that Tebow got from Denver?
