I know a while back on Howard Stern he said he was planning to after having more work on his neck. I just wonder if his "none of your damn buisness" answer to Bischoff was foreshadowing Austin/Lesnar (finally). He does look a bit out of shape though compared to when he made his last comeback.

Heck, even Rick Rude was planning a comeback before he died. It seems these injuries get built up and it seems a lock that they will never wrestle again, but somehow manage to hold up. I remember reading about Ultimo Dragon being gone for good, and now look at him after his operations. The problem, however, lies in the fact that once he has that "one more surgery" he's said that he's not going to be able to bump ever again without risking serious permanant damage to his spine (more than he already has anyway). With that in mind, I think Austin would be willing to wrestle a few more matches over the next few years (probably no more than five I would assume), and then he'll retire for good. Maybe once or twice a year, kind of like the WWE was/is hoping to do with Rock and Foley. | The Amazing Salami

When Hogan put over Warrior, fireworks and all, I really got the feeling that there was a "transition" of power, a crossroads. Okay, so Warrior didn't pan out, but you have to respect Hogan, who was the god of pro-wreslting, to have in him to allow someone else a crack at being the god.
Foley's back, and it looks like he's back to help Randy get over.
I can't think of anyone in the business who'd be better suited to help establish new stars than Stone Cold. If he comes back for a final run in the ring, I hope he grabs the brass ring and gets his moment in the sun, but I also hope he's willing to give a few young guys a boost on his way out. | emma

Yup. A recurring theme is that if you have a fusion done at one level (between one pair of vertebrae), you can still work. If you're fused at more than one level, there's just not enough flexability left in the remaining "joints" to absorb any kind of stress without breaking badly. That was one of the big pieces of uncertainty about Kurt's surgical options, before he found Dr. Jho. They couldn't be sure til they got in there whether Kurt would need one level fused (in which case he'd be out for a year), or 2 levels, which would be career-ending.
Of course the other part of Austin's orthopaedic problems is that his knees are apparently pretty trashed too. The more parts you've got that don't work, the less you can compensate for what you can't do.
My guess is that he really wants a "last run" (duh), &, because wrestlers are all nuts by definition :-), he's willing to sacrifice his body to do it. The trick is whether he actually still has enough functional body parts left to be able to pull it off.
