I don't understand the mega build up they are giving this match for WrestleMania. It's getting just as much, and maybe more, of a build up as Angle vs. Lesnar. It is definitely getting a bigger build up than either Booker vs. HHH (a World title match) or HBK vs. Y2J.

I just don't understand why I'm supposed to be so interested in this match. I was interested in Austin vs. Vince at St. Valentine's Day Massacre. I was interested in Vince vs. HHH at Armageddon. I was interested in Shane vs. Vince at a previous WrestleMania. But, I'm just not interested in Hogan vs. Vince. I don't care about their personal problems. They are building this match up like it's a selling point for WrestleMania and, to me, it's a detriment to WrestleMania. I would much prefer Vince vs. Bischoff, not that I necessarily want that either.

Am I just in the minority here (wouldn't be the first time)? Is this actually a big deal for other wrestling fans?


On a side note, how odd was it to see Bob Costas on SmackDown hyping the Vince vs. Hogan match considering the altercation between Vince and Costas on that HBO show not that long ago?

I am stoked. I love Vince. I love the Hulkster. It may not be Benoit/Angle from the Rumble, but I think it will be entertaining as hell.

Yes, I liked Vince vs. Shane. Definitely not a wrestling classic but, good entertainment. I just don't have the same interest in Hogan vs. Vince. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised by their match.

Yes, Great Thomas, I could have done without that whole stabbing scene. Hell, I could have done without the whole long and predictable contract signing scene.

This match is destined to suck. Is there any reason why this couldn't have been a tag match? Y'know, Hogan/some young guy who can actually work vs. Vince/SYGWCAW? Or does WWE just not want to put anyone new over?

I really don't see this match getting above the sucking level. I don't know why. When everyone thought that Hogan/Rock would suck last year, I thought that it'd end up being entertaining (which it did).

But I don't have the same faith in Hogan/McMahon. And anyone who knows McMahon knows he'll give this match 15 to 20-minutes. That's just brutal.

Oh, and why isn't RVD on the card? God, I'm bitter.

Is it going to suck on a technical level, Hell Yeah!

But I wil enjoy it because it is VKM/HH. Should be incredible heat, and if they keep it simple and Fit Finlay maps out the match to the second, it should be decent. I expect a run-in or a guest ref to make it not an embarrassment.

I can't find myself getting into this as well. I liked Vince/Shane, I liked Vince/Austin, and I'm not a Hogan hater and I like him being part of the WWE... But this feud just hasn't grabbed my interest for one reason or another. It seemed like it came out of no where and forced, and way to insider smarkish for me "You called the feds on me 10 years ago". Sorry I don't care.

In any Hogan mainstream interview while he was on his sabbatical, he always said if "If I come back there's one man I must fight and the man everyone wants to see in the ring with and that's Vince McMahon.". Which is a feud I never was too interested in seeing... Adding to that how repetitive and uninterested I am in the "Devil himself" Mr. McMahon character since he came back on screen makes this feud doomed for me, Vince is still one of the better onscreen actors in the Fed, but I'm just tired of his character and haven't missed him at all when he was gone all those months.

Mr. McMahon *IS* one of the most hated heels in history of wrestling (ok, at least of the sports entertainment era)

What makes you believe that people aren't interested?

On a wrestling level it will suck, but they aren't promoting it like that. A fight. Probably a street fight.
Hide their short comings, and deliver one helluva brawl that will have the fans cheering. That is what they will give. I know I will enjoy it. I hope you have plenty to drink before so you can have one helluva toilet break

I won't be home for this one. (Traveling to Tejas that day), but I will somehow catch it. I can't depend on Mrs AWArulz to tape it, so I have a pal and we have gone in on it and he'll tape it. Why? Two reasons: Hogan/VKM and Rock/Austin. Are we marks. Damn right.

Oh yeah, and Lesnar/Angle too. But, admittedly, on a much lower scale. And though there seem to be a couple of bathroom breaks in the show, I'll just hit pause.

So, could everyone not do spoilers here until the Saturday after?

I hate to admit it, but I'm marking out for the promos they've been cutting on each other. And if they throw in all the bells and whistles the match itself demands -- guest referee, run-ins, heel / face turns by whoever -- I'll be thoroughly entertained.

Every WM needs at least one cartoon match, no?

Is it going to be "great" in a Chris Benoit-Kurt Angle sense? No, but since when are those the only kinds of matches that are any good? Hogan-Andre was abysmal from a workrate perspective, but if you don't consider it to be one of the greatest wrestling matches of all time, you either:

a) Weren't watching in 1987, or
b) Have become WAAAAY too smarky for your own good.

I tell you what, anyone who reads my posts on this board (or just looks at my avatar/sig. file right now), knows my feelings on the current national situation, on the war, on the President, on the protests, on everything. Suffice it to say, I'm unbeliveably pissed off right now.

But.

I turned off the war coverage to watch Smackdown last night. The whole show finally builds up to the contract signing, Gene F'n Okerlund hits the ring, the Hulkster busts out the "You know something, Mean Gene" that, as someone who could never tolerate WCW, I haven't heard in close to ten years. And, just like every time Hogan's on screen, I'm ten years old.

Then McMahon comes out, in full blown evil mode, assaulting Hogan from behind, stabbing him with the pen and *signing the contract in Hogan's blood*. This is mark-out city, ladies and gentlemen.

For a few moments, I forgot about the war, I forgot about the terrorist threats, and I got to feel like a kid again.

Am I interested in Hogan VS McMahon? It should be the main event, brother.

(And Harvey Dee doesn't have a match *announced* yet, but the Dudleyz turned psuedo-heel on him and Kane on RAW this week, and they don't have a match announced either, *AND* Regal's out injured so they can't have a tag title match, so do the math here.)

I don't know myself. I understand the history between the two. But, I also understand that the combined age of these guys is probably around 110 or something. But I'll be watching just to see what happens. I was more interested in Vince/Flair at Royal Rumble than this. Because it's Flair, of course! If there's any match I'm really chomping at the bit to see it's Y2J/HBK and Kurt/Brock and HHH/Booker. But this thing between Hogan and Vince, I don't know. The promos are good but I'm just not as into it as I am the other matches. They should get the hype because they are all dream matches in their own right.

I was looking forward to this match since people started rumors about it months ago. Vince McMahon has the best facial expressions in the business and I can't wait to see him look around in astonishment when Hogan starts Hulking up and Vince's punches are having no effect. Then when Hulk points and wags his finger at Vince I want to see the look of fear in Vince's eyes. I think Vince is awesome when it comes to that stuff.

The only thing I am NOT looking forward to is "Voodoo Child". If they play "Real American" I am going to mark out like a 12 year old girl when the Hardy's take their shirts off. This is one match where I am going to throw all my smarkyness right out the window while watching. I don't care that these guys are Dinosoaurs, It's Hogan vs. Vince!! I want to turn back the clock and be 13 again. I want to cheer my head off for the Hulkster. I'm gonna eat my vitamins and say my prayers, and so should McMahon, cause whatcha gonna do Vince! Whatcha gonna DO when Hulkamania runs wild on youuuuuuuuu!!!!!!

Hogan-Vince this is the only well built match on the card this year. None of the other "main events" have really had the coherent storyline nor the great clash of personalities that Hogan/Vince has had. If this match goes last, I don't really see any problem with it, because the other matches haven't been able to get the job done in terms of hype.

That said, it is pretty sad that this is the best hyped, most highly anticipated match on the card. It's probably because a McMahon is in it.

I have as much interest in watching this match as I did in watching Huckster vs. Nacho Man at Mania XII. The only way this could be the least bit entertaining is if they put in a scaffold match stipulation, thus at least one exciting moment would occur in the match.
