I think this is the STUPIDEST damned thing I've ever heard of. "You suck" and "Boring" are two completely different types of fan heat. One is based on the fans' collective disapproval of the wrestler who's at the object of the chant (hence, the fans are marking out) while the other is a reflection of the fans just not giving a shit.

And everyone wonders why so many people bitch about how stupid and out of touch WWE is.

What do you all think?

I love how they thought that this would get the "boring chants out of the fans systems"!

Hey, dumbasses; the boring chant had finally died a few years ago. Now, all of a sudden, the fans are back to chanting it whenever a Rico or a Spike Dudley is in the ring. Do you really think this is a coincidence?!?

Poor Lance Storm. I feel his days in WWE might be numbered.

Vince McMahon: WHAT A FUCKING GENIUS!!!

Storm himself said he originally didn't like the idea, but that after he talked to them some more, he thought something good might come out of it. That leads me to believe that there's more to come than what we've seen so far. Now, if they leave him off of the show like they did last week (Is he on Heat tomorrow? I haven't seen spoilers.) again next week, then I'll be the first to march to Stamford and personally take a steaming dump in Vince McMahon's wheaties.

They obviously didn't show him any tapes of Doug Furnas' & Phil Lafon's careers.

I don't get it either. "Boring" represents apathy, which is universally considered the kiss of death. Now, I don't know how they spun it to Lance, but surely he knows that. Maybe he's just trying to put the best face on a bad situation. He's probably not in the best bargaining position, when it comes to shooting down creative's ideas.

What's even more curious is the idea that it will "get it out of the fan's systems." Have they ever been out in the concession lobby after a show? People were still screaming "what" at Bad Blood!! Yeah, the marks won't run "boring" into the crowd. They'll probably just restrict the chants to the duration of Lance Storm's matches. Right.

Looking at Vince, your excrement wouldn't be the most toxic thing in his wheaties.

They were in Canada. If they want the fans to be apathetic to him (for whatever reason) it wouldn't have made sense to use him up there. (That's also why you didn't see La Resistance - or Bill Goldberg, for that matter, no matter what "arm injury" he may have mysteriously come down with.)

I think the "Boring" chant COULD help Lance out. It all depends on if it catches on or not. Next time Lance wrestles if he gets bombarded with "Boring" chants that means the fans at least care about watching Storm wrestle. Which would be a huge step up from his months and months of wrestling with dead silence. Who knows? Maybe they could eventually make Storm a vicious heel character that gets pushed to the edge by the "boring" stuff and starts destroying guys.

Schyeah, right. And monkeys might fly out of my butt.

It might work for Storm, but since marks will be chanting it at all the other guys like Rico, Spike, Jindrak, and others are screwed. There's no way to build up new talent when you've encouraged the audience to chant "boring" at half of the them.

I say it's already working.

The casual fan gave Lance next to no response before when he used to come out -- the `boring' chant is at least something. I guarantee they will start doing at house shows (if they aren't already) a spot where Storm gets infuriated by everyone chanting `boring! boring!' It's that type of angle that can play off of Storm's lack of natural charisma. When fans are chanting boring (in this case, anyways), it's not because they're losing interest in the match -- it's because Austin told them to say that. Don't you guys see the difference?

Look, a few weeks ago on this very board, you guys were swearing up and down that Storm was on his way out because of this angle. Well, I didn't and still don't think that's the case. He's had a prominent role on the show (I think) every week since then. Yeah, but he's being buried. I forgot. Probably HHH's fault.

Instead of knocking Vince yet again for not pushing people other than HHH, etc., why not give this a chance and see where it goes? I guarantee you this will work better than doing nothing at all for him, which is where he was before.

Consider this, during that tag match between Storm/Jericho versus Dudleyz, the fans chanted BORING at Storm whenever he slapped on a resthold.

Now the argument is that they're just chanting BORING to taunt Storm? That's the idea, I think we all get that. It's just supposed to be aimed at Storm when HE does a resthold.

However, "What?" started out as a chant during Stone Cold promos/segments but it quickly spread to everyone elses promos. Whenever anyone pauses, the fans chant "What?" even if Austin is sitting at home in Texas.

Now if they latch onto BORING the same way the latched onto What?, that's where the problem lies. Sure, they may just be chanting BORING to hear themselves speak (like with What?) but imagine a casual fan flips over to RAW, and the fans are chanting BORING during a match?

They don't know this whole long winded explanation of why fans are chanting boring. They see a resthold, they hear BORING, and *click* goodbye viewer.

Essentially, WWE has made it OK to chant the WORST possible thing during their events. "You Suck" or "___ Sucks" may sometimes not be good natured, like X-Pac or WCW Bischoff, as in "You Suck Get Out Of The Ring" but it can easily be twisted and justified, whereas "BORING" cannot.

If I can be serious for a minute...

If a company that was in the dumps like WCW could get Lance Storm over huge why can't the WWE. Lance Storm was LEADING a faction. I'm not a huge Lance Storm fan or anything but the gimmick with him winning all the titles and renaming them might have been the last good idea to come out of Atlanta. That gimmick was better than anything Heyman came up with for the guy. It may have been the best gimmick of that year.

The boring gimmick just seems like something you would give to somebody that you are on the outs with. I kinda get where I think they are going with this, but I think they could have gone about it in a much better way.

Great, more guys going through tables off of ladders each week to keep their jobs.

I guess right about now Jeff Hardy is just waiting by the phone for a call from Vince.

Because WCW booked Storm to be an impact player (yes, that pun IS intended, sue me) upon arrival in the company. They gave him the whole run-in deal for a few weeks for the "screw you, I'll make my own spot" side of the character. Came in, dominated the mid-card, won three singles titles cleanly (I think), renamed them and pretty much took charge of the show by having all that gold. In other words, he was literally made the center of the show for a few months. Unfortunately, shortly after the whole deal was dropped and he was put into a weak program with O'Haire/Palumbo for the tag titles . In the few months before the purchase, Storm was booked quite terribly.

The invasion killed Storm, much like every other former WCW wrestler. I think that the whole "big fish, small pond" theory does apply as WWE just doesn't see enough in Storm to give him a meaningful push. Thus, he's "boring."
