Wow...it was in theatres for a few weeks, and nobody has comments?

I caught this movie last night...and this version was much, much better than the 1988 version. Its difficult to compare the two versions, it's kind of like comparing both versions of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movies...same story, different vision.

Anyhow, star of the movie easily was Nikki Blonsky. She has an excellent set of lungs on her, she really belted the songs. Second would have to be...no, not John Travolta...but Christopher Walken. He looked like he was having some serious fun there.

I stuck around to catch the end credits, because I wanted to see if the main actors performed the songs, or if any soundalikes did, but the actors DID their own songs...yes, even Christopher Walken.

Travolta in the fat suit was certainly...something.

I can't recommend this movie enough. It lasts for almost two hours and there's not a single dull moment. Stick around for the credits, as well.

I got dragged to it on opening weekend...and I loved it.

It's a fun movie, no question.

As a fan of the original, I saw it last week with really low expectations thinking it'd just be a downsized, fluffy, musical remake. I walked out of there proved wrong and throughly entertained. The cast was great, especially Nikki Blonsky. Christopher Walken was awesome. And the cameos from some original cast members were a good surprise (I won't spoil who, just in case). Needed more Amanda Bynes though. She was the perfect Penny. Who knew James Marsden was such a good singer? The song lyrics were hilarious and stayed true to the quirky sense of the original vision.

John Travolta freaked the hell out of me...but i'll admit there were times where he was very convincing in that role which left me going "what the hell?" It's still gonna give me nightmares.
