Yes it's that time of the year again, when you all rush to sign up for the competition to finish second to me.

I have created some scoring and roster settings that are new to me and I think new to W leagues. For one thing, in addition to a team defense, there are two spots for individual defensive players of any position. I have never played with this roster spot before, is it unusual to use both team defenses and individual players? Should I drop the team defense? Or if the individual defensive players are unpopular, I can drop that, but I personally would like to try it and the only league I participate in outside of the ones we do here voted against adding it. Would one player be better than two?

Also, I've set it to have four divisions of four teams, with the division winners automatically getting in but seeding being done by record, so being a division winner doesn't guarantee a high seed. If 16 teams don't sign up, this will obviously have to be reconsidered.

Finally, the waiver process is going to be different. Essentially it is a blind auction: Each team will have a certain budget over the course of the year to bid on free agents during the waiver period, with tiebreaker being reverse order of standings.

Live auction draft is scheduled for 4:30 pm EDT on Saturday, August 25. I'm flexible on anything and everything, just let me hear any suggestions for changes. Good luck in the race for second!

I think defensive players are a waste of time. I usually play in the W Leagues and I like the other settings as long as the scoring stays pretty basic.

So, I vote against defensive players.

I didn't realize I could renew previous leagues, so I've done just that after (I think) drjayphd clicked a button encouraging me to do so. The league that was last year called W Fantasy Football has been renewed, and everyone who was in that league should receive an email inviting them to rejoin. There were 14 teams last year, but I've increased it to 16 this year, so there are at least two extra spots, plus however many of last year's 14 don't sign up again.

The info:

{ Sorry, you must be logged in to see this text! }

I've changed the settings from last year to include the blind auction format for waiver claims. No individual defensive players. I'm going to delete the first league I created.

I like the timing of the draft, it is perfect. But I don't dig picking defensive players, I tried that once and it was too much.

EDIT- Nevermind I just saw your new post.

Yup, 'twas I. Figured I'd pester every league that I was in last season to re-up while I was signing up for the new one.

It has been brought to my attention that new people cannot sign up because the remaining spots are all reserved for people in the league last year. I don't really care right now, the season is still two months away, so if, say a week or two before the draft there are people who still haven't returned from last year I will just open up their spots then. But in the meantime, if anyone knows for sure that they won't be playing, you can just tell me or indicate it in some way and I'll free up that spot sooner.

I won't be joining the league; I'm in far too many as is. (Incidentally I tried to join the But to give my opinion on your league setup questions:
1. Blind auction is great. I refuse to play in a league that just has open waivers from Noon on Sunday through Tuesday. I don't think it's right that whoever happens to see that Player X got injured first can pick up his replacement. When it comes to waivers, blind auction is also better than that thing where whoever picked a guy most recently moves to the bottom of the list. Not all waivers moves are created equal. Some have the potential to be quite a bit more valuable, and blind auction accounts for that. It can be tricky to figure out where to place bids. My suggestion is err on the side of a high bid. Most people in the leagues I've been in have had a ton of their free agent acquisition money left over.

2. Defensive players. Two IDP per team is basically useless. The way most IDP settings end up, you just find a LB who can get you close to 100 tackles, and a DB who can get you close to 70 and some pass defensed and INTs (or else a second LB). There's also not much separation between players at that level. The reason you wait until the end to draft a kicker isn't that they won't score points; it's that they all score about the same. Your IDP would end up about the same way. If IDP is going to work, you need to go whole hog. Eliminate team defense and draft at least 5 IDP (probably 2 LBs, 2 DBs, and 1 DL); and obviously, that's not a very popular idea with many fantasy players.

FYI - There are currently two spots available for anyone who wants to sign up, because I've deleted two teams from people who weren't going to rejoin from last year. There are still three teams with standing invites from last year who haven't joined.

Those teams are:

The Yuckaneers are in!

It wasn't easy either since my Gov computer blocks anything fun like Fantasy Sports, but I snuck out of work and got the job done. Take note of that, other teams. My dedication to my team and not work will be bringing me the title this year!

I have removed the last three reserved spots for last year's teams. It has been six days and they haven't signed up. The last two spots I opened up filled up quickly, so I'll just go ahead and open these final three spots, first come first serve. The previous three managers are still free to sign up, but they don't have spots reserved for them anymore.

Again, the league info is:
