Great choice to have HBK being attacked and injured. This way if they end up having a match they don't have to meet in the ring earlier.. And at the end Shawn could have faked it or whatever..or recruit someone to fight his fights..
"...And I use that to fuck them some place fairly uncomfortable." "What, like the back of a volkswagen ?" -Mallrats
someone commented here about how cool it is that the triple h / hbk feud isn't one dimensional. i think it fucking rocks that the entire show isn't one dimensional. they're letting the characters interact with each other beyond the "babyfaces are all friends and all hate the heels" schtick.
(...but i forgot benoit was supposed to be a heel until he used the ropes to pin RVD. good thing he cheated to remind me.)
speaking of hbk - didn't kane put him through a windshield last time? or was it a couple of people? i'm pretty sure kane was involved. i'm talking about the angle where hbk pissed off DX and "left him to the wolves" in the parking lot, if you wheel.
i'm so happy for booker t. the crowd popped big for him after he beat eddie.
getting the Unamericans on raw (i'm including jericho in the group) came off a lot bigger than i thought it would be. the pay off was definitely not a let down. now i'm hard pressed to think of what heels smackdown has beside kurt angle. nice to see the group left smackdown after doing the job, too.
A few points I wanted to hit on: 1.The Un-Americans and Y2J make no sense as the mystery jumpers, unless it is explained that they weren't in the limo. On Smackdown: There is an 11 second gap from where Y2J is seen on screen(on the ramp) til the camera cuts to the back for the limo segment. There is a 58 second gap from where the Anti-Americans are seen on screen (Storm & Christian top of the ramp/Test bottom of the ramp) til the camera cuts to the back for the limo segment. I guess the Anti-Americans could have made a mad-dash to the limo in the parking lot, but they would have most likely ran right past Stephanie (or somebody that could have told Stephanie that they saw them running out).
2.The first time Shawn Mic was put through a car window: Triple Aids and Dx acted all friendly to HBK and sent him on a mission somewhere via automobile. If I remember correctly they gave him the wrong keys for the car and didn't let him back into the building. The Corporation then took him out. Kane was part of the Corporation, so he most likely was part of the beatdown.
3.Smackdown loses top heels: Considering Raw just picked up 4 top-notch heels(plus Triple Aids still may turn), I'd have to say that Benoit and Guerrero just moved way down the totem pole. Plus, they don't like the Bisch. Raw stole the tag champs, so Smackdown will most likely get the IC champ(along with his pal Eddie)in return.
Smackdown needs heels badly now(especially since Angle looks to be turning face), so I could see Orton or Cena turning heel.
Also, look for Kane to jump(as a face to feud with Lesnar). They finally separated Edge and Christian(should have been done draft night), so hopefully they will separate the other fake brothers.
4.Future feuds ruined in order to hotshot top stars jumping shows: Angle sticking up for America and turning face on the Un-Americans(hinted at the Boston Smackdown that aired 7/4-After cameras went off the air Angle helped UT against the Canucks). They kept Jericho and Un-Americans together even though they had a chance to separate them completely. Most importantly: Triple Aids may still try to be the Superman good guy on Raw and will eventually crush Y2J again and keep The Book and RVD from becoming top-notch babyface main eventers whether he is a heel or a face.
The first hour was hot as hell, as good as an hour can be (and big show and bradshaw were in it, WTF)but the second hour (after Benoit/RVD) dragged a lot. Having 3 out of 4 segments being all interview (the one that wasn't was a Taker/Eric/Nowinski inring interview and match) was TOO much. I'm not a guy who says all interviews are bad but too many in one span.
- the anit-unamericans (does that make them hate people who aren't american's) come out and TSN is happy there Canadian content went up 150% (from 2 to 5). CRTC must have asked for it. Not a big fan of the gimmick but decent promo. Hitting hard on Lawlers and Ross icons were a nice touch.
-Booker v. Eddie- The crowd was suprisingly silent during the match especially considering the reaction both guys were getting weeks gone by. The match seemed a little off, Eddie missed the hurrcaran, and didn't duck during the ax kick. It was still good but really below what they can do.
- Trish/Bubba v. Molly/Show- Might be the best mixed tag ever. The whole is Show gonna squish Trish? Plus the match was fantastic. Great chic kick by Trish, which Molly snapped her head back perfectly. the cool moves we've seen Molly-go-round (even though it missed) and the Stratusphere handstand-headscissors. They girls added a SUPERPLEX by Molly from the top and a damn DOOMSDAY DEVICE by Trish/ Bubba. That entire segment was just amazing... (Again Torch readers just amazes me, 2 people on page one dissed this match, well one guy hated the whole show and gave it a 2.5. I wonder if they even watch this match or just see women and BigShow and say oh 'it's bad' )
-Jeff Hardy v. Bradshaw - Boy Bradshaw has some man boobish now. He's always been a boob anyways. Jeff won I'm happy. I props to the Nick Patrick (I believe) he held the ladder steady when Jeff went for the Swanton, more refs should do that... It was a little frustrating after watching that match and seeing Jeff win in his hometown just to lose it to Johnny the bull 4 seconds later.
-Benoit v. RVD- There was no way I wasn't going to like this match. I was geeked and these are 2 of my favourites. And allowing them to have over 10 minutes was a bonus. It's so strange seeing Benoit not being picture perfect and didn't roll away in time before the 5-star. They did the best they could be selling they were both hurt. crossface got huge reaction (thank book for last week) RVD escapes twice and great counter for the cheat pin by Benoit.
(and now the talk talk talk) -Mai,Moolah interview- I'm betting this book isnt' going to be #1 best seller list. TSN edit Island boys beating and for one of the few times, I really didn't care if that they did.
-Taker v. Nowinski - Nowinkski AGAIN is pure entertaining in his interviews. Turning on Bischoff in a second when Eric was making the match between the 2 "Your not going to let him force you to wrestle?" too funny... Oh ya there was a match. Nowinki was taken to the learning tree... Canada run in with a very poor looking conchairdo. The first one looked bad and the second didn't look great either (but on the replay it looked good) I'm guessing they used a bad camera angle that allowed to see how much the chairs miss the head.
-Triple H interview- He did cut a real good interview. I like him saying your time is over and monday was cold hard slap in the face to you (and hopefully to the people who are still wishing DX 2002). I like him saying "You could come down to the ring and get in my face, you could do that" he seemed so confident in his ability to kick HBK's ass (or maybe he knows something)... They did a good job building a bunch of potential suspects something out of a Agatha Christie novel, they should have suspenseful music with Anti-Americans. BookDust, SHow all looking at each other suspiciously. hold it and fade (hell they did it with Steph and kurt at the end of SD)
-Rock v. Flair- I'm sorry after last weeks amazing main event there is no way these two could even come close. And they didn't. They had 7 minutes and it seemed more then enough... Jericho coming out was cool, but JR & King did an awful job acting like he wasn't even in there (can't they see the ring from where they are sitting).
I still don't get why the guy that's main eventing SD comes to Raw, they are blowing this with all these jumps I swear. You have two guys who feuded on SD show 2 months ago and they come Raw show in a matter of 7 days apart.
sign of the night "toothless aggression
line of the night: Nowinski after Bischoff made a match v. Taker "Undertaker your not going to allow yourself to be forced into a match" This guy is gold on the mic.
(edited by Net Hack Slasher on 30.7.02 0452) I don't get it, everyone loves rats, but they don't want to drink the rats milk?
I just want to know, how long will it be before Trish and Bubba work together and do a 3D on someone? Trish has learned just about every other Dudley doubleteam move. Will the big payoff be a 3D on Molly down the line?
Oh yeah, almost forgot. Stacy will probably be the mole on Smackdown. She is Test's real life girlfriend and has ties to The Bisch through WCW. Playing Steph's assistant could be pretty interesting.
Question: Did Bisch say the Island Boyz names were Jamal and Rosey? Rosey? The name Ekmo was cool, but Kimo had to go because of the UFC fighter.
thrash HBK and attack Flair at the end of the night...
KO 2 legends in one night and he could have a huge feud with HHH [HBK's friend, and isn't HHH "the NEW man"?]
anyone else follow my logic?
"You can't fire a gun in a confined space! What are you tring to do, make us deaf?!" "Just get out of the chopper." "What?" "Get out of the chopper!" "The crops!?" - Jack Lemmon and James Garner, "My Fellow Americans", and the reason I say "The crops?" instead of "Huh?"
Raw was boring till the RVD-Benoit match. Match was good and there should be a rematch at Summerslam.
It's a good thing that stage manager interrupted Triple H during his promo. That promo was getting boring.
I liked the inclusion of some of the mid-card wrestlers when Michaels was helped out after his attack in the parking lot, sort of like when Mr. Burns was shot on the Simpsons. I think it was the UnAmericans after Michaels' uncalled for comments on Bret Hart earlier.
So who's going to Smackdown now that a quarter of the Smackdown roster jumped to Raw last night. Maybe the tag-team title will be defended on both shows.
"Catching Hitler was neato!" "Next stop, Hirohito!" Bart Simpson
I gotta' give props to the Grecian Formula 3:16 sign with the old picture of albino haired Bisch, I laughed my ass off for a good minute over that.
Well, first off I am going to give kudo's to the WWE writing staff. All those suspects in one place and those Michaels segments re-putting the seeds of doubt as to who is the one, and then having them all standing around when the man is down and bleeding (with Dean Malenko there, no LESS!).
Here's my own personal take, feel free to disagree, I'm just going to play a little fantasy booker, here.
Team Canada said they weren't done yet, for the night. So, after long drawn out events and some central figure trying to find out whodunnit (the police, or some other supserstar willing to take Foley's place in the "Who hit Stone Cold angle"), it'll finally come down to Team Canada. Jericho's not really apart of them, more like a guy that shows up to tell them what to do occasionally, so I don't think HE'S the one. Anyways, back to the subject at hand, I think eventually the blame will go to Team Canada. I also think we WON'T get Shawn/Hunter at Summerslam. Not yet. First I think we get Triple H and Taker vs. Team Canada for the Tag Team championships. Triple H and Taker are both going to be looking for revenge and they're both going to demand that Team Canada pays. Eventually pay per view time rolls around and lo and behold Team Canada takes a beating, BUT, somehow STILL walks out with those belts. How? Shanw Michaels. My guess is we might not see the ol' Heartbreak Kid again until Summserslam night when Michaels returns and screws Triple H and then we have the unanswered question of "Why did he do it?" Then Shanw breaks his silence and we find out it was Triple H all along, and thus begins megapush 2.0 for the Game.
Anyone else see this scenario playing out?
As for Booker/Eddie, I haven't see those two hook up in WWE and NOT be, well, I don't know how to put it, way too wired, I guess. Remember how sloppy their outing was three weeks ago?
As for Jericho being seen, WHO CARES!? You saw him for like a half second. Get over it.

J-Lo and Ja' Rule are the worst singing/rapping duo I've ever seen in my life (my response to the "totally live" performance of that annoying "Ain't it Funny" song at last year's VMA's. The show where everybody goes home happy and the winner's aren't really winners, they're just people randomly selected based upon their pop status).
Seriously, the highlight of the night was the Island boyz bringing good and righteous violence to the old hags. Hopefully THIS will be the time that finally kills them once and for all from my tv.
That`s the problem with trotting Moolah & Mae out on TV..after the horrors we were put through with them (mostly Mae) in the past few years, who has any sympathy for them?
If the Un-Americans (that sounds a lil better than "Anti-Americans") are going to feud with the Taker, could the Fun Brothers tag-team be back in business to hold those belts once more?
"Hollywood Hulk Hogan lost his hair match to Mother Nature, dude!"
No way, dude. Chunk had buck teeth and a fat face, with curly brown hair. I don't see it. Plus, I can't picutre Nowinski ever screaming: "Hey, YOU GUYS!"

Ummm...I'm not sure another feud with HHH would be a good idea. Those haven't worked well for the last 2 years or more now, and I don't really think this time would be the exception. At this point, Jericho vs. anyone else but HHH would be a better option for him, as for whatever reason (politics, bad booking decisions, spats over hair care issues) Jericho feuds with HHH always seem to end with him getting squashed like a bug.
You never know when you'll meet that special someone... the someone that's mysteriously blind to your flaws. or, you know, stupid enough not to realize that yes, you really are that cynical.
