The niners are 2-1 so far. their passing game has so far been weak. Their running game dominated the redskins this past sunday. Hearst/Barrows(sic) have done well..but..can the Niners win w/o Garcia and the Owens/Stokes/et all actually doing something?

49er's don't have their defense. Can they win, yes, because they have 4 virtual gimme games against Arizona and Seattle, and that number could be 6 if the Rams go into full implosion mode.

Thank you Mr. Wanz for the check, now you get an AWA World Title Reign. But be careful, my boy Greg is a heat machine.

Noted. I was merely responsing to the "can they" not "will they". But they certainly have a shot. They do have the four games against AZ and SEA, but also games against Kansas City and Dallas that mean six gimmes. That(theoretically of course) puts them at 8-1 without the accounting for the rest of the schedule. If they split those games that's 12-4 and looking good for the playoffs.

I think they can make the playoffs w/o a passing game. But winning the who kitankaboodle is another story...

I think the Pats last year showed you can win without a great passing game. As long as your QB does not make mistakes and you have a great coach. The 49ers do have the players in place to have a good passing game. I have not seen alot of their play this year (mostly highlights) so I can't say for sure but any team who as a Garcia, two stud RB's and Owens will win alot more games than they lose in that division

Calvin makes a good point and also leads to another.

The threat of the passing game is there, with Garcia, Owens, Stokes and the RB's out of the backfield. That, of course, leads to better oppotunities for the running game.

The talent on this offense is too good for them to "not" have a passing game. It'll come around!!!

Yeah, the Chiefs sure are a gimme game. Ask the Dolphins....oh wait.

Half a game for Spikes? Really Urban? It's Vandy, I think you can get away with sitting him a whole game.
