Steph on constantly pushing the McMahons. Sounds like it could be interesting, no? Well, here's the excerpt they use to back that up.

My father and brother forbid me to do that for a while, until I convinced them otherwise. I wanted to see what it felt like to get bounced around. You know, this HOT NEWZ!!111oneoneone-ish misdirection is getting REALLY old. If she's asked about it, then try including a quote that actually ADDRESSES the question. If there is none, then DON'T MENTION IT. I'd stop going there, if it wasn't for some of the other columnists (Eric S... yes, I actually like his stuff, among others). I know I'm not the first to mention it, but this bush league shit is starting to drown out the good about the site. Or maybe I'm just getting really offended over nothing. Who knows.

1bob's been pulling that same crap for years. They know you probably wouldnt click if the link was "Free Lance-Star article on Steffo", that might not be sensational enough to get your click. But if they title it "Stephanie goes in depth when questioned about her selfish booking tactics!!!11", you'll be like "OH CRAP, I GOTTA SEE THAT!"

Trash.

But even then, her response would be at least sort of related to the title. Here, she doesn't mention pushing the McMahons, just her push to get in the ring. Still trash, of course.

I am seriously *this* close to ignoring 1wrestling. Their tabloid-style manner in which they choose to bash WWE is apalling. I'm not trying to be a WWE apologist -- they clearly have lots of problems -- but nonsense like this makes the problems look insurmountable.

I still read the site because they DO break news. Granted, a lot of is fed to them through the TNA association, but scoops are scoops. I don't deny Ryder and Scherer's ability to break wrestling news. It's the lack of objectivity I'm growing increasingly frustrated with.

Goldberg tells all in a tell-all interview where he tells all!!! Tons of news about Triple HHH!!! All this plus the ONLY wrestling cartoon anywhere in the latest Inside The Ropes!!!

The pop-ups got me off of 1Wrestling a long time ago.......I can get most of the news second-hand from 411 or a1wrestling anyway.

Also, in regards to the actual article.....Steph's been wrestling (well, if you can call it that) since 2000. This isn't a new development.

I don't normally chime in on the Site Bashing...

but they really need a proofreader at 411. News articles either have brutal spelling mistakes, or are so grammatically incorrect it's not funny.

I don't normally post in "site bashing" forum but I figure now will be a good time as any.

I hate to say this, as I am a regular viewer of 1Wrestling.com, I cannot help it. It was the first "news" site I went to and I just keep going back.

So anyway, about the pop-ups there is a way to get rid of them without buying a damn thing.

1) The Google Tool-Bar. I would like to thank Madame Manga who posted it on Wienerboard, she did it in Random, I am glad she did. Its free and I have only had it for about 2 months and already got rid of over 800 pop-ups. The damn thing actually keeps count!

2) I don't know if this works on every computer but it worked on mine, I have Internet Explorer. So, first click "tools" then "internet options" then "security" then "restricted sites", click the little "sites" button then enter in the website, http://www.1wrestling.com for this case, then just click "add" > "ok" > then "ok" on the bigger screen.

The worst part of this to me is how easily users are misled by some of these techniques. On my site, I'll have all the headlines listed, and it'll be something like

12:50 1W: WWE GAMBLES AWAY IT'S FUTURE IN LAS VEGAS by Dave Scherer
11:30 YAHOO: WWE Purchases New Casino In Las Vegas by Business Wire

The 1wrestling story will simply be a restatement of the press release, but tons of users will choose their story over the actual press release.

For me, it's not so much the tabloid style that 1wrestling uses, as they've been like that for years. It's the constant sniping, Scherer in particular, at WWE. Some of it is certainly warranted, but a lot of it is very petty.

Some would argue that Ryder and Scherer have never been objective, what with their past employment with WCW and ECW, and now with TNA. Maybe they're a tad bitter?

The sensationalism of the news headlines leads me to believe that the site isn't doing very well in terms of hits, and this is the best way they can get people to click on the link.

Does anybody remember right after the WWF bought WCW when Ryder actually came out and APOLOGIZED for being so WCW-biased, and said he kinda had to be because of his associations with them??

How come nobody remembers that but me, did I dream it up or something?!

No, you didn't make it up. He actually did come out and appologize for being biased.

Wisconsin Badgers: 5-1 (Penn State may not be as bad as they looked against Wisconsin's offense, but man our defense looks like crap.)

Minnesota Vikings: 5-0 (Forget Indy and Tampa, THIS was the comeback game of the week.)

He addressed it in two of his "Notes from Bob" columns.

In the first, he addresses the WCW situation, and says "Because of my role with WCW, it's been impossible for me to be as objective as I should have been about a lot of things." This, however, is just a prelude to his follow-up a few days later entitled "Eating Some Crow." Among other things, he says "I was very well paid to be an advocate for WCW, and I think I earned every penny they paid me."

I don't believe he's changed any, except for the fact he now works for NWA TNA instead of WCW. Remember when Miss Kitty exposed her breasts on PPV? Well, he was outraged. Children might be watching! But, I've never see him say a word about any of the similar nudity that's happened on the supposedly more family friendly NWA TNA PPVs. If I've missed it, let me know.

Well it's nice to know Ryder's opinions and values are available for the right price.

Thank you all for keeping the "Curse of the Bambino" myth going. My kids went to college on the money I made from that.
