So I'm at 411, and I click on the headline "More On Why Raven Was Released By WWE", and I read the resulting blurb, which states that Raven met with the creative team regarding a new angle, and "for unknown reasons, he was released two days later." Not that this isn't legitimate grounds for a blurb, but this had *nothing* more about *why* Raven was released. Dumbness.
(edited by EddieBurkett on 21.1.03 1934) High tide for the time being.
The story may have come from there, but other than slick marketing, how can you positively spin Ashish's use of a headline which promotes information not in the article? Either he's using questionable tactics to increase hit counts, or he made a mistake when writing or copying the headline. Mistakes are fine and we all make them, but, regardless, copying and perpetuating dumbness is still dumbness.

Actually -- let's rephrase this as "What, if any, judgement did Ashish use when he decided to post this?" The answer is none.
Deciding on whether or not to cut or paste helps out sometimes, yanno.

I actually like that. I generally glance through velocity spoilers to see if it's worth watching. The smackdown spoilers I avoid like the plague. Including MAJOR SPOILER for MAJOR annoucement. Still don't know what it is. And with 3 hours to go I'm going to stop reading message boards so I can remain suprised.
I love it when they have heds like UPDATE ON THE FUTURE OF SHAWN MICHAELS, and the blurb reads, "There are no plans to bring HBK into the WWE, currently."
"My brother saw the Undertaker walking through an airport." - Rex "Was he no-selling?" - Me
"...release the dogs, or the bees, or the dogs with bees in their mouths, and when they bark, they shoot bees at you?" -- Homer Simpson
"Overnight WWE Smackdown Rating Posted By Ashish on 01.24.03 WWE Smackdown scored a 4.8 overnight rating with a 7 share. That is higher than normal. The final rating will be available later today."
Then only 2 or 3 hours later, he does this...
"Final WWE Smackdown Rating Posted By Ashish on 01.24.03 WWE Smackdown did a 3.5 rating this week with a 5 share. The show did a 3.4 last week."
What's the point, is he this desperate for filler? If he is, why not go the Al Issacs route and fluff stuff up like saying Yokozuna is comming back.
You know, everything you're bitching about here actually applies to pretty much every wrestling news site on the web; Meltz always posts misleading headlines, and puts out both the SmackDown overnights AND the final numbers. Just seems like you're straining to find things to mock, is all. Of course, I actually work for 411, so I may be biased.
"Here's the thing: I don't give a tupenny f*ck about your moral conundrum, you meatheaded shit-sack. That's pretty much the thing." Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill "The Butcher" Cutting, Gangs Of New York. You'd be surprised at how many statements this can be used as a response to.
Well, given that I don't visit Meltzer's website, I can't comment on the state of his headlines. As a 411 employee, you should be glad that of all the wrestling websites out there, I care enough to a) visit your website, and b) get irritated when I find a stupid semantical issue on your website. Although do bear in mind that repeated instances of item b may lead to the cessation of item a.
And besides, just because everyone's doing something doesn't make that something right. There's a certain question I'll refrain from asking that involves Meltzer and whatever large bridge might be local to your area that would apply here. If the WWE looked at all the internet criticism/bitching and said, "all the other promotions are running the same shitty angles," would that be a valid response?

Uhh... It was an accident... I was looking for Smackdown spoilers to be posted... I was looking for the NWA/TNA Live Notes to be posted...
OK! OK!! I have no life, is THAT what you wanted to hear? That my life centers around every single little word Flea, Ashish, Hyatte, Eric S. and the lot of them have to say. I just LOVE those guys like they were my extended family.
Well... at least the having NO LIFE part was correct, I'm either at work and on the internet, at home and drinking and on the internet, at my other job and, oddly enough, ON THE INTERNET, or sleeping, and as I've said before; porn gets old, especially now that I have to look at it all night.
I'm glad most writers don't get paid. In general, I think the work of the unpaid is better than the work of the paid, due to the fact that the unpaid writers are doing it 'cause they WANT to do it, not 'cause they HAVE to. Money is eeeeeeee-vil. :)
