18 titles released alongside the 3DS, including three from Nintendo themselves:
- Pilotwings Resort
- Steel Diver
- Nintendogs + Cats
- Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
- The Sims 3
- Madden NFL Football
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
- Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
- Ridge Racer 3D
- Super Monkey Ball 3D
- Bust-A-Move Universe
- Samurai Warriors: Chronicles
- Asphalt 3D
- Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
- Rayman 3D
- Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars

Anything look good to you? Monkey Ball is always fun and my girlfriend will demand Bust-A-Move - I am fine with this - and I might consider The Sims and/or Super Street Fighter IV (though I really stink at SSF4). I was hoping to see Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and Professor Layton at launch, but oh well, something to look forward to.

The Lego games are always great. I usually wait until they're available for $20 though (they always are). I wasn't expecting to buy the 3DS at launch anyway, but I'll be waiting until there's a killer app that I'm interested in.

My plan is to wait until the LoZ: Ocarina of Time game comes out for the 3DS (summer 2011) and then buy both the system and that game. I do have the right to change this if the Mario Kart game comes out first though.

Wired is guessing, based on the launch day list, that the following games will be out between March 27 (the launch) and June 7 (E3):
- Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked
- Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
- Dual Pen Sports
- Thor: God of Thunder
- Crush 3D
- Dead or Alive Dimensions
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 3D
- Rabbids Travel in Time

So today they said we'll get a new 3D Mario, though not at launch, a new expanded virtual store with 3d NES remakes, and Netflix support.

Yeah, my kid is getting one of these.

Out of what's listed on their launch list I'd pick up Bust a Move (I love that franchise).

What ISN'T listed is Pokemon Black/White, which comes out around the same time. Some people might grab a 3DS and decide to land Pokemon to tied them over until June/July. My wife pre-ordered it (in full!) for me during Christmas so I'll have that to keep me company.

I'm sold, I'll be getting one for sure.

After a (very) long hiatus, I have begun to write again. And this time, I'm not alone!

You beat me to it - here's a list of what I typed up from the Wired recap of the GDC keynote address:

- the 3DS will have free access to over 10,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots by late May
- the ability to record 3D video will be added in the future
- the team behind Super Mario Galaxy is making a new 3DS Mario game
- The 3DS eShop will launch in late May via a system update, and it will have both DSiWare games with Virtual Console games, including TurboGrafx-16 and Game Gear games in addition to the previously announced Game Boy and Game Boy Color games (I didn't see anything about 3D NES remakes, but I totally hope there is)
- the late May system update will also add Netflix, which will let you watch a movie on the go, and then continue watching the movie at home from your Wii
- the late May system update will also add a Nintendo-curated video service for 3D movie trailers and short films
- the late May system update will also add the DSiWare store (and the ability to transfer DSiWare games from your DSi)

It's interesting that so much stuff is being added on in one chunk. The 3DS launched in Japan last week, and apparently it runs existing DS flashcarts (devices used to play homebrew games and apps, or to pirate DS games) right out of the box, which shocked me. I assume the system update will block those devices, but I figured they'd stagger the system updates so they could block each iteration of flashcarts as they come out.

I got that from the Gamespot live blog of the event, so hopefully it's true. http://www.gamespot.com/events/gdc2011/story.html?sid=6301568&tag=latestheadlines;title;1

"[9:45] The eShop will also have 3D-remastered classic Nintendo games."

I guess it says "Nintendo" not NES specifically so we'll see what that means and if the blogger got it right.

I just recently got my son a DSiXL and checked out the store on there. Am I right in that I saw nothing but crap, more or less, when I was expecting tons of NES, Gameboy, etc type games? I take it they will correct that with this new store?

There are no Virtual Console (read: old system) games on the DSi like there are on the Wii. I don't have a DSi, but I briefly did, and I recall that there were a few decent games on there, but the crap-to-not ratio wasn't overly good.

Joystiq says: "We know that Nintendo is planning "3D Classics" for the 3DS eShop -- retro games with 3D effects added." I totally hope that's specifically NES games. I'd buy all thems again. I bet Snake Rattle & Roll would be awesome in 3D.
