Hello.
Back to the weekly grind - here's 312 new DVDs for you to eyeball. Usually a Monday holiday means a slow release week, but there is a LOT of television to see release this week - mostly so you can get it all in before you have to start all over watching the NEW seasons.
For those of you who HAVEN'T been here before, these lists work like so:
Hovering over links should provide you with Amazon's current price.
CLICKING on those links will take you to the Amazon shopping cart with a friendly referral from The W - consider making your purchase through us and it'll place a few coins in our tip jar!
Because Amazon sometimes can't come correct with the information, you will see some exposition from me (or, more likely, a bad joke) in addition to the listing along with IMDb icons (which can be clicked to take you to a movie's IMDb listing) or tv.com icons (which can be clicked to take you to the relevant episode list from tv.com)
All links should open in new windows so you can come right back here after your research! (If you want - we're totally flexible about that!)
Please tell a friend (or vote this thread up Digg/Netscape/&c. with a click of the icon(s) of your choice at the bottom) about this post because it takes me a long time and I'm a big fan of more eyeballs!
Please feel free to add a reply and share your two cents about any of the listings you see here - show off your impressive knowledge, share your opinion about something you've seen, something you're looking forward to seeing, or make your own crappy jokes which are better than mine!
We also hope that if you buy something, you come back and tell us what you thought about it! This hardly ever happens, but again, we can dream!
If you have something to say but don't want to say it publicly (or register for the board - but geez, why not just register for the board?), you can also email me direct at CRZ.DVD@gmail.com!
Let's go!
Let's start with a fairly obvious
PICK OF THE WEEK The Office - Season Three (The W at Amazon) (NBC, 2006-7) Yes, an obvious pick, but I'm not above picking something popular if it's worthy. Like last season's release, loads and loads of extra features and goodies - an easy decision to buy if you love this show like I do
Movies are kinda dismal this week, so let's start with the rest of the
TV OF THE WEEK
Desperate Housewives - The Complete Third Season (ABC, 2006-7) Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Nicollette Sheridan - no, really Desperate Housewives - The Complete Third Season (Spanish Version)
Prison Break - Season Two (FOX, 2006-7) Is he outta there yet? Find out with this set
Robot Chicken - Season Two (Uncensored) (Adult Swim, 2006) Stop motion for the discerning crowd Robot Chicken: Seasons 1 and 2
The Black Donnellys - The Complete Series (NBC, 2007) NBC shunted this series to the Web pretty early, but it had a small and loyal following
Nip/Tuck - The Complete Fourth Season (FX, 2006) I know nothing about this show, except I think the woman from "The Marine" was on this show (right?) Nip/Tuck - The Complete Fourth Season [Blu-ray] Nip/Tuck - The Complete Fourth Season [HD DVD] Nip/Tuck: The Complete Seasons 1-4
Rules of Engagement - The Complete First Season (CBS, 2007) aka "all 7 episodes" - Patrick Warburton, David Spade
The Real Housewives of Orange County - Season One (Bravo, 2006)
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Seasons 1 & 2 (FX, 2005-6) Justin said he liked this show, so...there you go
30 Rock - Season 1 (NBC, 2006-7) 30 Rock: Season 1, Vol. 1 If you can only afford half a season... 30 Rock: Season 1, Vol. 2 ...probably just get this half
Bosom Buddies - The Second Season (ABC, 1981-2) The final season - Peter Scolari, Tom Hanks, Wendie Jo Sperber Bosom Buddies - The Complete Series What other show could spawn a discussion like this (amazon.com)?
She-Ra - Princess of Power - Season Two (Syndicated, 1986-7) The last 28 episodes
Spongebob Squarepants - Season 5, Vol. 1 (Nickelodeon, 2007)

He's right, this show is awesome. How can it not be when two of the episodes are titled "Charlie has Cancer" and "Charlie Wants an Abortion."
I'll be buying Spongebob Season 5, though I doubt anybody wants or needs a review for that.

Best Buy has a set with a Dwight mini-bobblehead and a Dundie(!!!).
Target has a bonus DVD with the cast Q&A at this year's Paley Television Festival. (Note: I was there, though it's unlikely I appear on the DVD.)

how was the Q&A that you went to? If it was cool i'd pick it up for that, but the thought of owning a "Dundie" is extremely attractive. Mini bobblehead not so much, cause I own the original (yeah, i am a geek for the show). | SchippeWreck

The moderator they chose for the event was semi-clueless and had no idea how to handle the discussion. She kept asking serious questions about a comedy show. The ENTIRE cast was on stage (except Krasinski) and barely any of them got a chance to say anything, mostly because the moderator's questions were aimed at the producers. They should have either turned it over entirely to fan questions, or had the cast interview each other.
So, if the Target set charges more for the bonus DVD, I would say it's not worth it.

NIGHT SHIFT NURSES is really sick and disgusting and I've bought each one as they came out. Japanese people need help.
The Anime releases you described as 'for beginners' is actually just lower priced rereleases of their more popular titles... to sucker the fans into buying them. |
