PICK OF THE WEEK
NEWSROOM: SEASON 1 (The W at Amazon) (CBC, 1996-7, 2004-5)  It's a bit of a crime that Ken Finkleman isn't as famous as Ricky Gervais - certainly, the fact that he's a Canadian is the sole excuse, because he is at least as funny - and probably is funnier - than Gervais. It shows in every episode of "The Newsroom," which was doing the documentary style practically a good decade before "The Office" - at the time I believe we were comparing it to "The Larry Sanders Show" and certainly it's darkness makes it an apropos comparison. If you haven't seen this show...seek it out. (I should tell you that this series has been out before...there are some Goldhil releases from 2006 that you can still get used and cheap if you look further on Amazon.)
