Hello.
If I count correctly, there are 280 new DVD listings to share with you this time around. Lots of really...well, STRANGE stuff showing up at Amazon starting Tuesday. I hope something tickles your fancy - if not to buy, at least to write a reply sharing your opinions with the rest of the people reading on.
As usual, we improve upon the (sometimes sparse) Amazon information by providing additional icons for most releases which will take you to a new window with the relevant entry from the IMDb or from tv.com. Click, read, close, you're back.
Share! Buy! Reply! Come back and tell us about the stuff you've bought!

You can hear his saxophone solos on the band's recordings of "In The Mood" and (the theme of the Glenn Miller Orchestra) "Moonlight Serenade". Beneke was also a singer, taking lead vocals on such Glenn Miller hits as "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)", "(I've Got a Gal In) Kalamazoo", and "Chattanooga Choo Choo" (which sold a million copies within the first six months of its release in 1941). After Miller's death in World War II, Miller's widow asked Beneke to take the band back on the road. So if this is really Beneke from 1946, then it's most likely him leading the re-united Glenn Miller Orchestra. By the way, the band flourished under Beneke's direction; however, a rift developed between Beneke and the Miller estate over Beneke's desire to incorporate new sounds into the band's repertoire. The resulting split between Beneke and Miller's widow was so severe that Beneke is neither seen nor mentioned in the 1954 movie "The Glenn Miller Story."I'd feel a lot more confident buying a DVD of footage from The Beatles 1966 tour if the cover photo was from The Beatles 1966 tour, instead of a 1963 publicity shot. But maybe that's just me.

You're most likely correct! I'm almost certain this is just a DVD version of this old "Swingtime Video" VHS release (The W at Amazon) combine with this page from the Gene Krupa Reference Page (gkrp.net) which ID's the Glenn Miller Ochestra as well.

At least I think that's right, I wish amazon would have episode listings for these things. | Torchslasher

I would buy this, if I hadn't already bought Shaun Of The Dead in a two-pack with the Dawn Of The Dead remake.
My question is why are those two titles together? I understand Shaun and Dawn, but to lump in Slither with Shaun makes no sense. I get that they are both from Universal, but aside from that there doesn't seem to be a plausable connection. Is it that they both mix humor and horror? Was Slither made in Britian? Oh wait, they do both start with the same letter; that must be it.
I saw Shaun, but have never seen Slither, so maybe I should watch Slither first before I ask. Then again, as I have no plans to ever watch Slither, I guess I'll never know for sure.
In terms of the big movies out, I want to see all three of them. Yes, this includes Eragon, because as a Potter fan I think I'll find something to like in this fantasy film. Blood Diamond sounds fantastic though, so I'm really looking forward to renting that one.

Considering season sets are running $37-40, this is a pretty hot deal. So what I'm saying is, check YOUR Best Buy ad, and maybe cancel your Amazon order if you've made one.

To me, Slither and Shaun make a perfect 2-pack. They both mix horror and humor in a good way. I've seen both and I enjoyed them equally. Slither doesn't outright parody the alien slug horror films, but it gives it a somewhat romantic dimension that contributes to the funny.

There's a curious review of this disc on the linked Amazon page by "Spooky Chick", where she spends a portion of her review discussing her love life. |
