Looks like this might not be the last season after all. I must admit, it is kind of sad that NBC has been reduced to picking up other networks' scraps like this, but maybe a move to a new network will revive the 24 writing staff. This season has been okay (better overall than last, thus far) but I wasn't shedding tears to hear that the show was going off the air.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." -- Orson Welles, The Third Man
I remember when Angel was going off the air, ew.com posted the same thing that NBC might be willing to "pick up the scraps" and take over another couple seasons since they were looking to add some sci-fi shows.
Nothing came of it of course, except for fans of Angel going more and more to ew.com for updates of whether their show was going to be saved... but I suppose that was the point of the article in the first place.
It seems that they're trying to portray Michael as either amazingly competent or horrifically inept - but with no middle ground. That's not too far from how most of my bosses have been during my life - their antics just didn't result in hilarity.
