Oh joy. Time for the annual Kim Bauer in peril storyline. Time to bring back Nina to show him how to properly take care of a Bauer when you take them hostage at CTU.
Other than that, nothing at all stands out from this episode. You almost knew that Kyle wasn't Patient 1, even though this virus stroyline just doesn't seem strong enough to carry the show.
I have no idea where they're going, but have yet to decide whether that is a good or bad thing.
As far as I'm concerned, Kyle Singer is one of the most sympathetic characters ever. I said this before - it was established early on that he's a good kid deep down who tries to avoid trouble. But he made one stupid mistake, and his life was turned upside down. You can't avoid feeling bad for him, and last night's scene with him and his parents was very, very sad.
Welcome back Chapelle. That awkward hug he gave Michelle was priceless.
The one thing I don't get: The location of Ramon's pickup spot was determined basically on the fly. Was there already surveillance equipment installed at that spot?
Things are gonna be gettin really good either next week or the week after when Ramon and Jack make it to Mexico.
Chilling moment of the hour: (tie) Palmer giving the go ahead to take down the chopper, and finding out Chase *just* missed getting ahold of Jack.
Super-tense moment of the hour: Jack trying to avoid being in the line of fire while in the chopper.
This was an excellent episode which contained all the trademark elements of a typical 24 episode.
While the pickup location may have been determined on the fly, it was still at an airstrip, which I would assume would have some sort of security cameras in place. It would just be a matter of tapping into the system.
For once, Kim was about to be useful, but of course, she gets captured once again. She at least looked at hte cameras initially to see where Gael was, but for some reason stopped worrying about it. Maybe a cougar will come and save her.
"Thanks for the ride, Jack." Pretty cool line from Ramon. And I'm starting to like Chase a little better now that he's not worrying so much about Kim and telling Jack about them.
Overall, a decent episode that made me want to see what happens next. Is there a different virus-infected person? If so, why did the terrorists go to all the trouble of shooting Tony and keeping Kyle in the bubble?

Well, she's at gunpoint, and I know it's not unprecdented in the least secure security department in the history of this fictional US, but I have a feeling she's not leaving the building in Giel's possession.
The dude has no further use if Kyle was just a stunt, and there's too many people wandering around for it to get away. (And them tipping their hand by only showing Kim there and not captured in some car/van elsewhere, if I was paying attention to the preview right.)
What killed me is that the President gets a tough question in the middle of a debate, and WALKS OUT ON IT, and his brother is all "I'm sure it was the questions about Anne that killed us". It was nice that the President actually forced some respect for himself by requesting a "Mr. President." Everyone been leading him around like he's their kid brother.
While tapping into security cameras may be easy for the all seeing all knowing CTU people, getting a plane there might have not been easy. Ramon obviously was getting word from his brother previous to this "day", so I'm sure he knew where the plane was going to be (if for no other reason but to know something would be up if the Feds tried someplace else.)
Woo, I'm back. Been outta town for about five days, and have a ton of messageboard backlog to go through.... won't that be fun? Well, not that any of you are overjoyed to have read this, but I feel sometimes like making my presence known. Or something....
