(Click on the "DVD" thread icon to find previous weeks - believe it or not, we have over a YEAR of pages just like this one! To see new DVDs released for previous four weeks, quick links are here: 12/18 - 12/25 - 1/1 - 1/8)
Hello.
It's time for another 218 DVDs, four Blu-Rays, and one HD DVD release! They're all coming out on Tuesday, or sometime during that week starting 1/15.
A few movies sneak out this week that didn't register on the radar at the local cineplex, yet star some big names - well, biggish names anyway. There's also a few special releases, some TV nobody watched (and may not watch on DVD, either) and a Vin Diesel production people have been waiting for for longer than a decade. I don't know any of these people, but I've been assured they're out there.
Oh, and the "Family Guy" Star Wars parody. But that's an easy #1 and you already KNEW that one's coming out. I want to interest you in stuff you had no IDEA was coming out! So let's go!
For those of you who HAVEN'T been here before, here's a quick rundown about how we roll:
We got the big list on one page! We get them from Amazon, and they'll take you TO Amazon. Hovering over links should provide you with Amazon's current price.
CLICKING on links takes you to the Amazon shopping cart with a friendly referral from The W - consider making your purchase - ANY purchase - through us, as it'll place a few coins in our tip jar!
Because Amazon sometimes can't come correct with the information about certain movies or TV shows, you will see some exposition from me (or, more likely, a bad joke) in addition to the listing along with IMDb icons (which can be clicked to take you to a movie's IMDb listing) or tv.com icons (which can be clicked to take you to the relevant episode list from tv.com)!
All links will open new windows, so you can click, look, and then close to come right back here!
If you don't mind my asking for some promotion, please tell a friend (or vote this thread up Digg/Propeller/Newsvine/Reddit/&c. with a click of the icon(s) of your choice at the bottom of this post) about this post because it takes me a long time and I'm a big fan of more eyeballs! (Thanks to the StumbleUpon guy, too - I keep forgetting to thank that guy.) We're also happy for you to email this link to others as well - a lot of people do that!
Please feel free to add a reply and share your two cents about any of the listings you see here - show off your impressive knowledge, share your opinion about something you've seen, something you're looking forward to seeing, or make your own crappy jokes which are better than mine!
We also hope that if you buy something, you come back and tell us what you thought about it! This hardly ever happens, but it's always appreciated when it does!
If you have something to say but don't want to say it publicly (or register for the board), you can also email me direct at CRZ.DVD@gmail.com!
AND NOW
PICK OF THE WEEK - FOLEY FOLEY FOLEY California Dreaming (The W at Amazon) (Out of Omaha - 2007) Dave Foley, Lea Thompson, Vicki Lewis, Ethan Phillips, Patricia Richardson - Kinda like "RV" except awful - wait, that makes it EXACTLY like "RV." Answers a LOT of "Is still getting work?" questions in one movie. ONLY picked because Dave Foley is in it, so...please don't actually BUY it or anything. I didn't have anything to pick this week. THERE. I ADMIT IT. NOTHING INTERESTS ME. Now, let's move on! California Dreaming Same thing, different (name for the same) distributor? Hmmm...it's cheaper, at least.
Mr. Woodcock (2007) Billy Bob Thornton, Seann William Scott, Susan Sarandon - Hmmm, maybe THESE were the most annoying ads of 2007 Mr Woodcock [Blu-ray]
The Ten (2007) Paul Rudd brings you ten sketches with a zillion stars and many "Wet Hot American Summer" connections (or so I read) - www.thetenmovie.com The Ten [HD DVD]
He Was a Quiet Man (2007) Christian Slater, Elisha Cuthbert, William H. Macy - out for literally three days last year, in three theatres - made less money than your salary
Strays (1997) Written by, directed by, and starring Vin Diesel - and only one guy watched it, but at least HIS name was Steven Spielberg - more info at Vin's place, One Race Productions (oneracefilms.com)
MORE MOVIES FROM THE BIG HOUSES WHICH I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOGNISE AT ALL: Love Lies Bleeding (2008) Jenna Dewan, Christian Slater (again?) Wedding Daze (direct to DVD, 2008) Jason Biggs, Isla Fisher - directed by ... Michael Ian Black? Really? Saving Sarah Cain (2007) Already Dead (2007)
MAJOR "CLASSICS" OF THE WEEK: It Came From Beneath the Sea (1955) Two discs - includes black & white and "Chromachoice" colorized versions (using your "Angle" button so check your player first) Earth Vs the Flying Saucers (Widescreen) (1956) Same deal - another two disc set where they put both versions of the movie on one disc
FURN FILMS OF THE WEEK: When Hearts Collide (Dil Hi Dil Mein - India, 2000) More info at Image (image-entertainment.com) The District (Nycker! - Hungary, 2004) Animated - not for kids - more info and Myspace link at Atopia (atopia.com) Awakening From the Dead (Budjenje Iz Mrtvih - Serbia & Montenegro, 2005) More info or watch online at Cinequest (cinequestonline.org) Barrio Cuba (Cuba, 2005) Red Eye (Redeu-ai - South Korea, 2005) Syndromes and a Century (Sang Sattawat - Thailand/France/Austria, 2006) More info and trailer at Strand (strandreleasing.com)
TOTALLY GAY TRAVEL OF THE WEEK: Bump! Northeastern USA Shannon McDonough - more from series billed as "the ultimate gay travel companion" Bump! Southern California JR Anderson, Michelle McDonough
WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT: WWE: Armageddon 2007 Cheaper at the WWEshop (wweshop.com) or spend a few bucks more and also get the T-shirt (wweshop.com)
DON'T CALL IT "XTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING" WHERE VINCE'S LAWYERS CAN HEAR YOU: XCW Wrestling: Total Destruction Did we decide whether anybody'd heard of XCW (xcwprowrestling.com)?
JEWISH EDUCATIONAL MEDIA OF THE WEEK: The Banquet 5768-2007 I'm not sure what this is, but I guess they do it every year - I DID find last year's (jemstore.com) - what's a "Kinus Hashluchim?"
And finally...

CRZ had to edit my profile and close my table for me before, but I did this one all by myself with Frosty's help!
