The thing I don't get people saying "Obama has more important things to do":

1. All the other heads of state were there. And people have said Blair and Putin's participation help get their cities the games.

2. It's not like he's on vacation. I assume he's doing business while he's there.

3. I didn't want them, but presumably there are economic benefits for the city/country that wins.

As Richard Deitsch said today, "never bet against Pele in Copehagen."

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week: FROM THE VAULTS.

"I just want the ability to crush a man's neck with my thighs." (JST)

I'm not sure you could count the words formed by his spastic flailings "thoughts". I was hoping he was being sarcastic, but no, he'll take any opportunity to snipe and keep the listeners foaming at the mouth.

There goes the automatic under bets on the Cubs and White Sox when they would have had to go on the road trips from hell.
Seeing the great and mighty Oprah lose is always nice.
Does the hemisphere change cause it to be a later Olympics?

I asked this earlier in the DVDVR Olympics thread. Apparently, the dates scheduled are in early august.

I wondered how the Olympics will affect the Brazilian futbol season, which runs from May to December.

I don't see a single news story ripping him for it. Or basically even acknowledging it. Nor should they. The same would have held true today had Obama not even mentioned it, let alone showed up.

I never saw a single news story ripping Bush for the number of "czars" he appointed, but that hasn't stopped the number Obama has appointed (even though it is less than Bush did) from becoming a Republican talking point and something of a news story.

Wait - this has WHAT to do with the Olympics? Go start your own thread (so I can close it) if you're dying for more "Obama vs. Bush" nonsense.

Edit: I'm a moron. There's a thread over in TV that I've been ignoring to evade 24 spoilers this week. You probably are better off replying there.
