How can Keegan Micheal Key be best supporting actor in show that is literally named after him? His name even comes first! I know that it all depends on how things are submitted, but come on! This is ridiculous.

The same way SNL is a "variety sketch series" show and Kate McKinnon is nominated as supporting in a comedy series (I guess).

I maintain that they need a separate category that is just 'really good show'. Louie is consistently one of the best shows on tv, but it is not a comedy. I've been watching for 4 seasons and I still don't know what it is. It deserves an award, but putting it up against the likes of MF, PnR, and Veep is just wrong. Those shows are better *comedies*.

I think the same goes for OitNB. For a drama, the whole Crazy Eyes as porn author plot was way too funny. Even the panty-stealing plot felt more farcical than last year. The only real drama was the corporate mismanagement and the feud between the mothers. It was good (although I liked the s2 finale better), but I don't feel it was enough of a *drama.*

Although good on pornstache getting a nomination for his one scene this year, which admittedly was a great scene.

How is American Horror Story still a limited series when they've established that they all take place in the same continuity? They've even had characters cross seasons.

Good for Masley finally getting nominated. I'm still waaay behind (haven't started season 2 yet), but after rewatching Dollhouse recently and watching Eliza Dushku basically play the same character over and over (except when she was blank), it really contrasted with what they are doing on Orphan Black.

Surprised that Fey got nominated for her extended Marcia Clarke impersonation. Not surprised that Hamm got nominated for his crazy cult leader.

There needs to be a Best New Theme Song category.

Banks is going to win Best Supporting for one episode and a lot of scenes glaring at Saul. Saul is my pick. Game of Thrones getting too much love when last year was far better. Mel Brooks needs to win just for the speech.

There is--"Outstanding Main Title Theme Music". This year's nominees are The Dovekeepers, Marco Polo, Penny Dreadful, Texas Rising, Transparent, and Tyrant.

I apologize. I meant to say an emmy for acting.

There are only two that I care about (but not enough to really complain after)

Mayim Bialik finally wins Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy. She is, without a doubt, the saving grace of a mediocre show. I watch TBBT just for her (and to lesser degree, Penny and Bernadette).

Jon Oliver for Last Week Tonight. By far my favorite show on TV or Cable. It is a shame he left when he did from The Daily Show because the transition from Stewart to him would have been seamless. But Last Week Tonight is just an awesome show and he is pure perfection as the host.

Life is hilariously cruel.

It ain't the six minutes... it's what happens in that six minutes.

I'm hard-pressed to imagine how the voters clearly liked 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' quite a bit and yet Ellie Kemper somehow didn't get nominated.

The situation with Key & Peele is that they were going for the "let's nominate ourselves as supporting since we're a team, a la the Friends cast or the SNL cast" vibe. The difference, of course, is that it isn't a six-person cast or a 14-person cast --- the whole show is literally two guys playing virtually every role. It would've been like if Maslany had been nominated for Supporting Actress.

McKinnon and other past SNL nominees make sense since they're just one part of the larger SNL cog. (And p.s. I would love to see McKinnon win, she's been the best part of that show since virtually her first day.)

Mad Men's winless streak in the acting nominations is hard to believe, yet also not totally implausible. Best Actor Drama is always a stacked category every year and Hamm had the misfortune of going up against another all-timer performance in Cranston for most of those years. Moss maybe suffers from some category confusion as some voters don't consider Peggy a lead character. Hendricks and Slattery do great work and maybe it just wasn't their time. This all being said, Hamm and Moss should ABSOLUTELY have won at least one Emmy each by this point, so hey voters, there's still time.
