Greetings!

I bring you, for the 9th year, The-W.com WWE PPV Prediction results. The 2012 "season" ran from the Elimination Chamber 2012 to Royal Rumble 2013. PPV offerings were down one to 12 this year, but the total predictors this year were up three to 86.

Just a reminder that I only counted actual PPV matches here, so those that occurred on the pre-show do not count toward the standings. Also, if there isn't a match announced ahead of time, I don't count those random predictions toward the standings either. For instance, if you suspect there might be an IC Title match afoot, just typing "Barrett wins if there's a match" doesn't count, even if a match occurs, because an opponent has not been named and that theoretically could make a difference in one's predictions.

Onto the other stuff you've seen year after year:

I split the results into three categories based on the number of PPVs guessed. The top level is for those who guess between 6-12 PPVs; the middle level is for those who guessed 4 and 5; and finally, the lower level is for those who guessed 1-3. Since I don't think it would be fair for someone who guessed only one PPV and went 4-0 to win the title, I arbitrarily made the decision to make only those who guessed between 6-12 eligible for the big prize. It also encourages people to predict more PPVs. If you are atop the other two levels, you can also proclaim yourself winner of that level at least, even if it's not the overall crown.

Here are last year's results: http://the-w.com/thread.php/id=45200

Previous champions include esteemed posters such as OMEGA, Big G, Torchslasher, kentish, hhhgamewmx7, Big Bad, and Shem the Penman.

Not only did total number of predictors increase this year, but those in level one increased from 35 to 38.

Most guessed PPV: Wrestlemania (64), up eight from last year's Mania. In 2nd was Elimination Chamber with 58 and Extreme Rules with 44.

Least guessed PPV: TLC with 26 and Survivor Series with 28.

The new year begins in a few weeks when the Elimination Chamber Prediction Thread is up, so be on the look-out for it. Oh, and good luck!

I moved from 8th to 7th place in the Middleweight Division. Cheers to a marginal victory! Its a shame that I didn't predict one additional WWE PPV, which would have moved me up to compete against the Heavyweights.

Big congratulations to texasranger9 for being the best out of everyone who ran the complete 12 month gauntlet. (And an honorable mention to silver medalist Excalibur05.)

Does anyone do these compilations for the TNA PPVs?

If only I hadn't bet against CM Punk for every one of his title defenses. But I also like to think that my bad luck with predictions helped prolong his reign.

I would be interested in seeing previous years' results and how everyone has charted over the past nine years.

Woo! I made the Top 3 in Level Two!

This is pretty awesome geemoney. I was just wondering about how many of my predictions were accurate, but I'm much to lazy to actually do the research myself.

geemoney, do you have detailed information on predictions compiled that someone else could use? I was just thinking about doing these results based on how easy it was to predict (based on how many other predictors also got it right). Being the only one to get a match correct would be worth more than being able to predict that the Undertaker would win (which is what I did). I could compile it from the threads the same way you have, but I wonder if maybe you could save me some time?

Thanks for compiling this, I know it takes a lot of work. I thought of compiling the TNA prediction results, but apathy took over instead.

I did better than I expected, 42-22.

Would be neat to see some other stats, like what match most of us predicted right, and wrong, etc.

The last several years should be available if you follow the link I posted for last year's thread (as the year before that's will be linked there, and so on). Before that, I sent them in PM's so if you don't delete any of yours, the results may still be buried there somewhere.

Alright, geemoney didn't have the detailed lists I needed, but I decided to compile them myself anyway. The metric I have compiled is Correct Predictions Above Average. If you get a pick right that half of all predictors got wrong, you get 0.5 points. If you get it wrong in the same situation, you get -0.5 points. The idea is to reward people more for making the more difficult picks.

I've also decided to include TNA predictions in this, because why not? Because of the lesser voting in TNA prediction threads, a lot of them don't end up being worth any points anyway.

Before I post the entire list and your eyes glaze over, let me say that I'm gonna have another post with some stats about individual picks.

Without further ado, the results are:
1. UnsUwe, +5.0 picks (out of 61)

0 correct: Lesnar/Cena at Extreme Rules, Punk/Cena at Night of Champions.

Of matches where someone actually predicted the winner, the most surprising outcome was Kane beating Randy Orton at Wrestlemania. Only 8 of 69 predictors got that right, which was worth +.88 for them.
Other surprise outcomes was Big Show beating Sheamus at Hell In A Cell, Team Ziggler beating Team Foley at Survivor Series, and Hell No beating the Rhodes Scholars at Royal Rumble.

0 wrong: Everyone who voted correctly predicted Orton/Kane at Extreme Rules, Antonio Del Rio/Big Show at Royal Rumble, and Air Truth/Hell No at Night of Champions.

Some obvious matches that only a few people got wrong were: Beth Phoenix/Tamina Snuka at Elimination Chamber (2 out of 58 picked Tamina, and received -0.97 points for their trouble), Undertaker/Triple H at Wrestlemania (4 out of 68 picked picked Triple H), the Smackdown Chamber at Elimination Chamber (4 out of 58 picked someone other than Daniel Bryan), and the Santino Marella/Ricardo Rodriguez Tuxdeo Match at No Way Out (2 out of 28 thought Ricardo would pull it out).

I can't wait to see Rock job to Jeff Jarrett. Seriously, though, methinks it's just a way to get a new deal with WWE. Rock fakes interest in TNA, WWE gets scared and offers him a new deal. Easy as that.
