Standard caveats:
-The timeframe covers December to November.
-Some of the overall awards are available to both wrestling and MMA organizations. (Sometimes this makes sense, sometimes this doesn't.)

I highly recommend that Elgin vs. Richards match. I just saw it this week because Elgin really impressed me at the PWG show a couple weeks ago and I wanted to see more of his stuff.

The Young Bucks also really won me over at that show. Nice to see them place so high among tag teams of the year.

(I didn't vote.)

    BEST WEEKLY TV SHOW
    1. TNA IMPACT

I was ready to declare the awards dead until he pointed out that it won in part because WWE split the vote between its five different flawed shows. Congrats to our posters who follow Impact and talk about it like it's real.

I don't have a problem with Raw winning worst, either. It's just a drain on everything -- this was a year where so many talented, well-liked acts ended up in better positions, and a year of improved PPV business where they really didn't have one "bad" show, but as a week-to-week TV product it just can't be satisfying even though I like so much of the big picture direction.

Had I voted, I would've gone with Main Event; it's kind of the perfect show. Not just a 25 minute long match between pushed guys every week, but one hyped with preamble and follow-up. Imagine how great life would be if Raw was Smackdown and Smackdown was Main Event.

I don't vote but I did make a YouTube playlist of Dinastia matches for the purpose of getting him attention for his award. (I dunno that it actually mattered, but they were fun matches.)

I don't mean this against anyone who enjoys TNA IMPACT, but it feels less like they had a good year than everyone else fell on their face enough to give them their win. RAW is or at least was the default choice for voters (like Danielson is for technical), but 3 hours RAWs mean it's not cool to vote for RAW anymore. Main Event is good, but it's not as good as SmackDown was felt to be in the early 2000s and treated as B show. ROH had a bad year, so it couldn't be the protest vote indies usually get, and no other big name indy has popular TV. Ultimate Fighter might have won if they had a good year, but they didn't either. TNA made some positive changes and had some fun acts. There's still plenty of bad - Aces and 8s? - but apparently not as much as everyone else.

I think this may be first time in 20+ years I didn't vote.

Amazing to see a number of Chikara alumni finishing so high in some categories. Rick O'Shea finishing second in a category I would not have ever expected.

How many voters were there?

TNA had a great stretch in the summer, it was just the stench that surronded it before and especially now that makes this a curious choice.

    MOST UNDERRATED

    1. TYSON KIDD

    2. Dolph Ziggler

    3. Daniel Bryan

If anything I think Ziggler and Bryan are properly rated. They both have prime spots on the biggest show in the land and we all fall all over ourselves about them. Tyson Kidd is a fine choice

    BEST GIMMICK

    1. JOSEPH PARK

    2. Damien Sandow Savior of the Masses

    3. Daniel Bryan Yes/No

There were some pretty good gimmicks this year. Joseph Park was fine, but hardly the best.

I would have gone with Extreme Rising as the worst promotion, but whatever. I thought Impact improved by leaps and bounds in 2012, but I dunno if it was the best show. Raw was hideous most of the year though. Shocked that Daniels and Kaz won the tag team of the year not that they don't deserve it, but I figured He'll No was a lock. Daniels and Kaz had a unbelievable year and are my fav act in wrestling. Daniels has had an incredible career revival and Kaz finally has shown personality. Nice to see Bully Ray get his due credit, he had the best year of his career and was a amazing heel
Kudos to Park for reinventing himself as he went from the stale Abyss gimmick to the really funny Joseph Park character.

I just ignore the Japanese stuff for the sake of my sanity. I have zero problem with Impact winning. Their entire BFG run was more amazing than the run towards Mania for the WWE. They didn't point to signs, they actually had matches that were damn good. They put Aries, Bully and a bunch of others last year while WWE is still not even close to pulling the trigger on Ziggler while burying Ryder, the divas and refusing to put their clearly over world champ in main event spots.

I also have no idea how Brock/Cena got that many votes and Taker/HHH couldn't crack the top four.

Don't get me wrong, I ignore NJPW too, but like ... Japan is a real country, 50 thousand people bought their biggest PPV (20 thousand bought Bound For Glory), the PPVs are available in the U.S., and WWE tried to sign the guy who was just voted company MVP.

Sure thing, brother jx. CM Punk was champion for the entire year, Daniel Bryan was in 7 straight PPV world title matches, Dolph Ziggler went from jobbing to Brodus Clay to world-champ-in-waiting and headlining with Cena, the three top prospects were called up and immediately started beating down main eventers, and Antonio Cesaro went from developmental to 50/50 matches with Sheamus and Orton in 8 months.

But none of that counted because there wasn't enough women's wrestling.

Have to laugh at Impact winning "Best Show" while TNA as a whole is named "Worst Promotion." Also, not sure GSP/Condit got so many votes for fight of the year...it wasn't anything special. (Zombie vs. Poirier was a fine top choice, however.)

yeah it makes no damn sense. TNA has the best show, best tag team, best new character, one of the best brawlers and one of the most improved and still have the worst promotion? Isn't ROH a better choice with their drop in quality of talent and shows? Also they had all kinds of issues with their ipppvs. How bout Extreme Rising with wrestlers overdosing and being way past their prime and having Shane Douglas Main Eventing and having Stevie Richards as the champ?

The deal with worst promotion is enough people have to care enough about your promotion to bother to vote for it. Anyone can be bad but you have to be super relevant to be worst.

Sorta kinda not really. Yes, its wrestling, but how many times do we see Lucha stuff in these things. Metzler's awards tend to slant towards Puro for some reason. I think it may have to do with him not wanting to give WWE all the awards when WCW and ECW went down, but it could be his fanbase is very Puro.

Punk wasn't even main eventing Raws, let alone the PPVs. Bryan got jobbed out at Mania and only became a star due to the backlash. Ziggler was fighting for the world title at the Rumble and still is not champ, a year later. He is using Vickie and AJ to get heat. Cena took over all the storylines even storylines that had nothing to do with him like Ryder and Laurantis. Raw also suffered from pointing to the Wrestlemania sign for three months without doing anything. They even jobbed Brock out to Cena. Raw and WWE in general has been terrible minus a few moments here and there most of them being Rock, Punk and Hell No.

Ryback when from having a near career threatening injury, to being an over face. And they did it the old fashioned way; a parade of local jobbers being led to the slaughter, then feeding him jobbers to the stars. I wouldn't call him overrated at all.

These awards are complete and utter tripe. TNA Impact cannot be both the best, and second-worst, weekly television show! RAW can't be the worst and fourth-best.

Owing primarily to the format, which lends itself to such mind-boggling inconsistencies, the Wrestling Observer Awards are "about as legitimate as a three-legged donkey... which, of course, is illegitimate, because as we all know, donkeys have four legs."

Hasn't Glen Jacobs earned the right to have worst feud of the year at least called the Kane award in the Lou Thesz/Ric Flair tradition? A decade of consistency should be rewarded.
