Zack Ryder has one of the best and worst gimmicks? What? I would have gone with sending Hardy out as the worst promotion move over the bullying of Ross. I would have gone with Lawler-Cole as the worst worked match of the year over Hardy-Sting which was a one move match so while the decision to send him out there drunk and or high was retarded I can't call it the worst worked match of the year because it never had a chance to be terribly worked. Bully Ray should have been up there as most improved as he lost a ton of weight and has had a very strong singles run. Cody Rhodes would be up there as th most improved list too. Impact has improved over the last 4-5 months, but yeah it was pretty bad for most of the calender year. SurprisedSorm isn't somewhere up there in the best promos list. I also think Beer Money should be higher in the tag team ranking, but then again the tag division was pretty dead for most of the year in TNA. Agree with Shelley being on the underrated list. Can't disagree with the worst PPV and best ppv picks.
Oh Wrestling Observer, at least you decided to break up the MMMA/Wrestling awards. You might have done so before, but I am noticing it now. Now, if you would just get over your hard on for Japan, we would be fine. Raw was not worse than NXT. I also think Punk vs. Cena should be Punk vs. WWE Corporate. I would also like to vote Tough Enough for one of the best shows out there. Cole/Lawler killed Mania for me in a lot of ways mainly for the wrong guy going over. At least TNA wasn't brain dead enough to let Hardy beat Sting.
Yet, for all the yelling, you can't disagree with Punk being wrestler of the year and Money in the bank being PPV of the year as well as feud. Nice to see Rock get some love, too. I have seen worse from this group.
The Wee Baby Sheamus.
Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.
I liked Cole/Lawler and I LOVED that Cole went over. I'm a Coleminer till the end.
Was that a typo or did I really read some dude faked cancer?
These awards mean nothing to me because I haven't even heard of most of these people and I couldn't even pronounce the names correctly, I'd bet.
I do agree 100% with the worst match and worst major show categories. I still can't understand how they allowed that to be put on television.
CM Punk is not the best interviewer. He just says the same shit over and over again. His one, single put down to his opponents is that he calls them women. It got old the 3rd time he did it, he's on his 50th time now. Get some new material, geesh.

He was hospitalized, put the word out that it was cancer, showed a scar and medical papers proving he had a golf ball sized tumor removed, and then was back in the ring a month later as if nothing had happened. He's never admitted to faking cancer and no one's proven it, but his behavior and his quick return point to it being something else (a stabbing? a rehab stint?)
Like I say every year, I haven't bothered to vote in the Observees since 2005, but

As a matter of fact he was #4.

Are there even that many Japanese wrestlers on this list? The WON awards have actually become a lot more U.S.-dominated than 5-10 years ago as wrestling has gotten a lot weaker in Japan and its sanctified place in the hardcores' heart has been replaced by some combination of MMA and indies.
But Japan has wrestlers too, they wrestled in front of billions of industrious Asians. I didn't watch them but that doesn't mean they didn't exist.

I don't think it's out of the question to ask if you've seen a minute of NXT in 2011, lotjx.

If he had a different name, I really think he'd be the dominant heel in the WWE.
I think he will be a world champion heel in WWE in 2012. Possible WMMITBsman, oh there's another thread right there brb
Bernard and Anderson were the IWGP and GHC (Noah) tag champs and set the records for longest IWGP tag reign and title defenses. It took the reuniting of the one of the most well-known tag teams in Japan to take the IWGP titles away from them. Tanahashi set the same records for the IWGP title in 2011.
In the last few years, some people, presumably disgruntled with the way voting went, have complained that the influx of voters after the Observer's online merger with F4W, "skewed" the voting, especially amongst the European fan base that votes for puro stuff.
Which is silly, since the Observer Awards have always been puro friendly. The Awards have almost always been tangential to the amount of coverage Dave gives something and/or what Dave likes and doesn't like.
My lack of interest in the awards in recent years has come with the blurring of the wrestling and MMA categories.
From a GMA interview with You Know Who: http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/WWE_News_3/article_87245.shtml I can't help but wonder, if he really gave up his left arm, would it impact his workrate whatsoever?
